Family Hotels on Lake Garda, Sorted by Season and What a Child Costs

Eleven family hotels on Lake Garda were checked against their own websites in October 2026, and the calendar turned out to matter more than the star rating. Gardaland's own opening calendar shows Gardaland Hotel shut from 2 November to 4 December 2026, and Hotel Gioiosa in Riva lists nothing between 8 November and the offer that opens its 2027 season on 18 March. Four of the eleven publish a kids club that stops by the end of September. What a child costs runs from nothing at Poiano Garda Resort, where two children up to 17 stay free with paying adults, to 65 to 155 euro a night at Quellenhof Lazise, which does not take children under four at all. Everything below starts from those two facts, because they decide if your dates and your family fit.

Best for a family of four: Du Lac et Du Parc Grand Resort

In Brief

What is the best family hotel on Lake Garda?

Du Lac et Du Parc Grand Resort in Riva is the strongest all-round pick, in the €€€ band. It has direct beach access, bungalows for up to seven, a kids club for 3 to 10 and a free first child up to 6 on direct bookings. For value, Poiano Garda Resort lets two children up to 17 stay free.

Key takeaways

  • Gardaland Hotel closes from 2 November to 4 December 2026, the same weeks as the park
  • Four of the eleven publish a kids club that stops by the end of September
  • Quellenhof Lazise does not accept children under four
  • Under-14s pay no tourist tax in Riva and Lazise, and under-13s none at the Gardaland hotels

Which rooms actually fit your family

Find your party shape along the top, then read down. A tick means the hotel publishes a room that holds that group in one booking. A dash means the hotel does not publish the fact at all, which is not the same as a no, and is why the column exists.

Every tick and figure comes from the hotel's own website or its group's website, read on 3 October 2026, and the Gardaland season comes from the opening calendar behind gardaland.it. A dash means the operator publishes nothing, which is not the same as a no. The occupancy columns are strict: a tick needs a published maximum, so SISAN Family Resort and Hotel Gioiosa show dashes even though their family rooms plainly sleep four, because neither states a number. Several operators contradict themselves and both readings are kept: Le Torri del Garda gives its kids club as 3 to 7 and 8 to 11 on one page and 3 to 6 and 7 to 11 on another, Parc Hotel Peschiera runs entertainment from April on one page and June on another, Hotel Bella Italia puts the campsite mini club at 4 to 12 where the campsite says 4 to 11, and Quellenhof Lazise says Gardaland opens until the end of September when Gardaland's own calendar runs to 1 November and on into December. Falkensteiner's old Family Resort Lake Garda page no longer exists; the brand now sells Falkensteiner Resort Lake Garda in Salò.

These are family facts, and family facts go stale. This table is set for re-verification in March 2027.

What the bands mean

Most of these hotels publish no fixed nightly rate, so the bands are relative tiers rather than quotes. The few published figures show the spread: Le Torri del Garda's Family Suite starts at 63 euro a person a night with half board on four sharing, Hotel Gioiosa's family rooms run from 89 to 221 euro a person with three-quarter board, and Falkensteiner Resort Lake Garda's suites start at 495 euro a room before any child is added. The child line moves the bill more than the band. Poiano lets one or two children up to 17 stay free with one or two paying adults, Du Lac et Du Parc lets the first child up to 6 stay free on direct bookings, Hotel Bella Italia charges nothing up to age 3, and Gioiosa publishes fixed child prices of 14, 22 and 29 euro a night by age. Quellenhof charges 65 to 155 euro a night for ages 4 to 16. Then there is the tourist tax, set by each town. Gardaland's hotels add 2 or 2.50 euro a person a night from age 13 for Castelnuovo del Garda, Quellenhof quotes 3.50 euro from age 14 for Lazise, and the Garda Trentino tax in Riva is 1.50 to 3 euro by star rating, with under-14s exempt and a cap of 10 nights.

Walking times are to the lake or beach, and Gardaland, as each hotel publishes them. Lake Garda's family hotels are spread round the shore and several sit inland, so each hotel is measured to what a family came for: the lake or beach, and Gardaland. Every figure is the operator's own. Where the operator gives metres, minutes are worked out at 1.25 metres a second, about 4.5 km/h. Five operators publish no walking figure for the lake at all, and Le Torri del Garda gives two readings for Gardaland on two pages: 20.20 km and 4 minutes on its location page, which cannot be right, and 15 to 25 minutes by car on its theme parks page.

    Riva del Garda

Du Lac et Du Parc Grand Resort

    Best for four

A four-star superior resort in a seven-hectare park at Riva del Garda, with direct access to the public beach and lakeside promenade. Its bungalows are the family stock here, from a two-room bungalow for four up to a 110 square metre Four Room Bungalow for seven, and the Paolino Club takes children aged 3 to 10, with a Baby Space for 0 to 3.

The 55 square metre Three Room Bungalow Classic, two bedrooms and two bathrooms for up to six with a kitchenette
    Children stay free
The first child up to 6 stays free on direct bookings, under the Family Offer
    Breakfast for children
Breakfast at La Veranda until 10.30 am, with no child meal price published
Walk to the lake or beach, and Gardaland, as each hotel publishes them
On the lake: the operator lists direct access to the public beach and lakeside promenade, and calls the two-room bungalows just steps from the lake to the lake or beach, and Gardaland, as each hotel publishes them
    Right for
A family of five to seven who want separate bedrooms, a beach on the doorstep and a club for the under-tens.
    Wrong for
Families whose holiday is built round Gardaland, which the resort gives no distance for.
    The catch
The Paolino Club stops at age 10 and parents are not allowed inside, and the site publishes no club hours or season beyond a 3.30 pm meeting time. One of the two outdoor pools is adults only for over-16s and closes on 5 October 2026, no water slide is published, and the offers on the site end on 2 November 2026.

    Best value

A four-star hotel spread over several buildings in green grounds at Garda, sheltered by San Vigilio and La Rocca on the operator's description, with 160 apartments alongside the hotel rooms. It publishes the most generous child terms on the lake: one or two children up to 17 stay free when sharing with one or two paying adults, on breakfast or half-board rates, and its four-room apartments sleep eight.

    Room to book
The 35 square metre Junior Suite for up to five, or a 55 square metre Three-roomed Apartment with two bedrooms for six
    Children stay free
One or two children up to 17 free sharing with one or two paying adults, on breakfast or half-board rates
    Breakfast for children
Covered by the free-child terms on breakfast and half-board rates
Walk to the lake or beach, and Gardaland, as each hotel publishes them
No walking distance to the lake is published for the resort, which is on Via Poiano in Garda to the lake or beach, and Gardaland, as each hotel publishes them
    Right for
Parents of teenagers, who stay free to 17 here where most hotels charge them close to an adult rate.
    Wrong for
Parents of toddlers who want a kids club or a paddling pool.
    The catch
The mini club starts at age 5 and runs only from Easter to September. There is no children's pool or slide on the site, only an unheated Olympic-size pool, and the spa is for over-18s apart from a paid family hour from 2 pm to 3 pm, Sunday to Friday. The city tax is extra and payable in cash, and the amount is not published.
  • Benches on the lakeside square by the small harbour at Cisano, between Bardolino and Lazise

    Cisano, Bardolino

    SISAN Family Resort

    €€
Rated 4.5 out of 5 on Google Maps from 383 reviews, as of October 2026

A four-star apartment resort at Cisano di Bardolino, run by the same group as Hotel Bella Italia, built round a 2,000 square metre lagoon pool with a gently sloping bottom, water slides and a baby lagoon. Every unit is a 45 square metre three-room apartment with a double bedroom and a small bedroom of two single beds, so children get a room of their own, with breakfast and daily cleaning included.

    Room to book
A Garden Apartment, 45 square metres with a separate children's bedroom of two singles, in the centre of the resort
    Breakfast for children
Breakfast included, with half board available and no child price published
Walk to the lake or beach, and Gardaland, as each hotel publishes them
Just steps from the lakeside promenade on the operator's wording, with no metre figure; Gardaland is 8 km and Movieland 6 km on its own figures to the lake or beach, and Gardaland, as each hotel publishes them
    Right for
A family of four who want slides in the resort, a children's bedroom and Gardaland 8 km away.
    Wrong for
Anyone travelling with a dog, because the rules say dogs are not allowed.
    The catch
No maximum occupancy, child price or season dates are published, and the latest stay date in its offers is 1 November. You clean the kitchenette yourself during the stay and on departure, and late arrival or early departure is charged in full. Two of its pages give different check-in cut-offs, 10 pm and 11 pm.

    Breakfast for children
Breakfast is an optional extra, not in the room rate, and half board is extra too
Walk to the lake or beach, and Gardaland, as each hotel publishes them
About 11 minutes to the Gardaland gates on the operator's figure of 800 metres, or the free shuttle; no distance to the lake is published to the lake or beach, and Gardaland, as each hotel publishes them
    Right for
A family of four who want the shortest trip to Gardaland and a themed room the children will remember.
    Wrong for
A family of five, because every room is capped at four and the hotel says occupants may not exceed the stated limit.
    The catch
Breakfast is not in the room price, the 23 square metre Quadruple Family Room cannot take a cot, and nothing sleeps more than four. The hotel closes from 2 November to 4 December 2026, the Blue Lagoon pool area opened only from 22 May to 13 September 2026, pool towels cost 2.50 euro here, and the car park is paid.

Walk to the lake or beach, and Gardaland, as each hotel publishes them
The hotel says it is on the shores of the lake and the campsite says its beach is just a few metres away; Gardaland is 5 km and Movieland 7 km on the hotel's figures to the lake or beach, and Gardaland, as each hotel publishes them
    Right for
Families who want a hotel room but the slides, clubs and beach of a big campsite next door.
    Wrong for
Families travelling after mid-September for the slides, because the campsite's pools close then.
    The catch
The water park and the clubs belong to the campsite, whose pools open from about Easter to mid-September, and the hotel's own entertainment runs only from June to September. The hotel publishes no season dates and no maximum occupancy, and its family page and the campsite give different mini club ages, 4 to 12 against 4 to 11.

Its Paradiso Plus plan is full board with drinks and a snack bar, and it keeps a heated indoor pool open all year.

    Breakfast for children
Breakfast included, half or full board with drinks in high season, and no child price published
Walk to the lake or beach, and Gardaland, as each hotel publishes them
Not on the lake: Peschiera's centre is about 5 km away on the operator's figure, with a free shuttle from about April to October; Gardaland is 6 km to the lake or beach, and Gardaland, as each hotel publishes them
    Right for
A family on a budget who want slides, a shallow pool for toddlers and full board 10 minutes' drive from Gardaland.
    Wrong for
Families who want to walk to the lake or into Peschiera in the evening.
    The catch
It is 5 km from the lake and the town, so every beach day starts with the shuttle or the car. The outdoor pools are unheated and summer only, no mini club ages are published, and the family page promises rooms for five while every room card read stops at four. The site gives two entertainment seasons, April to mid-September and June to September.

    Breakfast for children
Half board included in every rate, breakfast buffet and a six-course dinner
Walk to the lake or beach, and Gardaland, as each hotel publishes them
A few minutes' walk to the water and about 30 minutes on foot to Lazise village, on the operator's own figures to the lake or beach, and Gardaland, as each hotel publishes them
    Right for
Parents of school-age children who want a five-star spa resort near Gardaland with family suites for six or eight.
    Wrong for
Anyone with a baby or a child under four, who will not be accepted.
    The catch
It does not take children under four. The best pool, the 21 metre Infinity Sky Pool, is in the adults-only area, there is no kids club, and guests are asked to dress elegantly for dinner. Each child costs 65 to 155 euro a night on top of the suite, and deposits are refunded only as a voucher.

Walk to the lake or beach, and Gardaland, as each hotel publishes them
Not on the lake: the operator puts the nearest beach about 2.5 km away by car to the lake or beach, and Gardaland, as each hotel publishes them
    Right for
A family of five or six who want two bedrooms, half board and a lake view at a mid-range price.
    Wrong for
Parents hoping to leave the children at the club and go out, because the FAQ asks parents not to leave the hotel.
    The catch
The kids club runs only in June, July and August, and the site gives two sets of ages and hours for it. There is no babysitting and no published water slide, the sauna is for over-18s, and the Tower Suites are up two flights of stairs. The location page says Gardaland is 20.20 km and 4 minutes away; its own theme parks page says 15 to 25 minutes by car.

    Breakfast for children
Three-quarter board included in those child prices, with children's lunch at the kids club
Walk to the lake or beach, and Gardaland, as each hotel publishes them
30 minutes on foot to the lake on the operator's figure of 3 km, or 15 minutes by bike to the lake or beach, and Gardaland, as each hotel publishes them

Parents of under-twelves who want an all-day club and a child price they can add up before booking.
    Wrong for
Families who want to walk to a beach, or who can only come for a long weekend in August.
    The catch
It is 3 km from the lake. Air conditioning runs only from July to September, peak season is sold only in Sunday-to-Sunday weeks, and no family room publishes a maximum occupancy. It lists nothing between 8 November 2026 and the offer that opens its 2027 season on 18 March.

    Wrong for
Parents of under-sixes who want a kids club, or anyone pushing a buggy or a wheelchair.
    The catch
Every room type is 14 to 18 square metres, yet each is sold for up to four. The mini club starts at age 6 and runs only from June to mid-September, the outdoor pools are unheated, and the operator says the layout makes the hotel unsuitable for anyone with reduced mobility.

    Right for
Parents of babies and toddlers who want all-day childcare, baby pools and a Biberonia kitchen with a steriliser.
    Wrong for
Families on a budget, or anyone who wants to price the children before they enquire.
    The catch
It is the dearest hotel on this page, with suites from 495 euro a night for two before any child is added, and it publishes no child price, no tourist tax figure and no distance to the lake or to Gardaland. Check-in is not until 4 pm, and the rooftop spa is adults only.

Where not to book in Lake Garda

The mistake on Lake Garda is assuming a family hotel is a family hotel all year. Check the calendar before the room: Gardaland Hotel closes from 2 November to 4 December 2026, Gardaland Magic Hotel opened only on Friday and Saturday nights in October, and Hotel Gioiosa lists nothing between 8 November and 18 March. Then check the kids club months and ages, because they shrink fast outside summer: Le Torri del Garda runs its club in June, July and August only, Hotel Leonardo da Vinci from June to mid-September and from age 6, Poiano from Easter to September and from age 5, and Gardaland Hotel and Quellenhof Lazise publish no kids club at all. Quellenhof also turns away children under four. Next, check if you can walk to the water: Parc Hotel Peschiera is 5 km from the town, Hotel Gioiosa 3 km from the lake and Le Torri del Garda 2.5 km from the beach by car. Finally, read the rate: at Gardaland Hotel breakfast is an extra, and the Quadruple Family Room cannot take a cot.

When to book

Pick your dates against the season before you pick the hotel. Summer is when everything runs at once: Gardaland's Blue Lagoon pool area opened from 22 May to 13 September in 2026, Le Torri del Garda's kids club runs from June to August, and Hotel Leonardo da Vinci's from June to mid-September. Hotel Gioiosa sells peak season only in Sunday-to-Sunday weeks, so a short August break is not possible there. Autumn is thinner: Du Lac et Du Parc's adults-only pool closed on 5 October 2026, and its offers end on 2 November. For half-term, Gardaland's Kids go FREE offer gives each child up to 12 free park and aquarium tickets on stays from 7 September to 1 November 2026, excluding 30 and 31 October, booked by 29 October. In winter, Gardaland Park reopens for Magic Winter dates from 5 December, and Hotel Gioiosa reopens with its Opening Special on 18 March 2027.

Family hotels in Lake Garda: FAQ

The questions parents ask most when booking a room here.

Stay on the south-east shore if the theme parks are the point, and at Riva del Garda if the lake is. Gardaland Hotel is 800 metres from Gardaland, and Hotel Bella Italia, Parc Hotel Peschiera, SISAN and Quellenhof Lazise are 5 to 8 km away on their own figures. At Riva, Du Lac et Du Parc has direct beach access and bungalows for up to seven.

Yes, in season. Gardaland, Movieland and Caneva World are within 8 km of the Lazise and Peschiera hotels here, several hotels have slides and children's pools, and the Riva and Limone hotels here have beaches on foot. Outside summer it thins out: Gardaland Park closes from 2 November to 4 December 2026, and four of these eleven hotels stop their kids club by the end of September.

This page checked only Lake Garda, so it cannot rank the others. What sets Garda apart for families is that its theme parks sit on the shore: Gardaland is 5 to 8 km from the Peschiera, Lazise and Bardolino hotels here on their own figures, and Movieland 2.5 to 7 km. Book inside the season, because several family hotels and their kids clubs wind down by November.

On Lake Garda, Du Lac et Du Parc Grand Resort is the best all-round pick for its beach access, bungalows for seven and free first child up to 6. Poiano Garda Resort is the best value, with two children up to 17 free. Falkensteiner Resort Lake Garda is the strongest choice for babies, with all-day childcare and baby pools, at the top of the price range.

Many are not, or only partly. Gardaland Hotel closes from 2 November to 4 December 2026 and reopens for Magic Winter dates, Hotel Gioiosa lists nothing between 8 November and 18 March, and SISAN's latest published stay date is 1 November. Parc Hotel Peschiera keeps its heated indoor pool open all year, and Quellenhof Lazise sells a New Year's Eve gala, so both trade into winter.

Rarely, but the range is wide. Poiano lets one or two children up to 17 stay free with paying adults, Du Lac et Du Parc the first child up to 6, and Hotel Bella Italia children up to 3. Hotel Gioiosa charges 14 to 29 euro a night by age. Quellenhof Lazise charges 65 to 155 euro a night for ages 4 to 16 and does not take under-fours.

It depends on the town. Gardaland's hotels add 2 euro a person a night at Gardaland Hotel and 2.50 euro at the Adventure and Magic hotels, from age 13. Quellenhof quotes 3.50 euro a night from age 14 in Lazise. In Riva del Garda the Garda Trentino tax is 1.50 to 3 euro by star rating, children under 14 are exempt, and it stops after 10 nights.

Gardaland Hotel is the closest, 800 metres from the park with a free shuttle on opening days. After that, on each hotel's own figures, Hotel Bella Italia is 5 km away, Parc Hotel Peschiera and Quellenhof Lazise 6 km, and SISAN Family Resort 8 km. Le Torri del Garda is 20 km away, and Poiano and the Riva, Limone and Salò hotels publish no distance.
