AI Travel Budget Calculator
Type any destination - our AI fetches real 2025 cost data and breaks it down across accommodation, meals, activities, and transport.
Works for any city or country - our AI fetches real cost data for each destination.
How much does a trip cost in 2025?
Travel costs vary dramatically by destination, season, and personal preferences. A budget backpacker can manage on $40-70 per day in Southeast Asia by staying in hostels and eating street food. A mid-range traveler typically spends $150-250 per day in Western Europe or Japan, covering a private hotel room, two restaurant meals, and 2-3 attractions.
Luxury travel can exceed $500 per day - top-tier hotels, private guided tours, and multi-course tasting menus. The Journey Finder Budget Calculator queries Google Gemini AI for current cost-of-living data on every destination, so the numbers reflect real on-the-ground prices rather than blog post averages from years ago.
What the AI considers
- Real 2025 nightly hotel rates by neighbourhood and tier
- Local meal prices: street food vs casual restaurants vs fine dining
- Local transport: metro day passes, taxi rates, ride-share apps
- Attraction entry fees, guided tour costs, activity gear rentals
- Destination-specific saving tactics (markets, transport apps, off-peak timing)
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is the Journey Finder budget calculator?
Our budget calculator uses Google Gemini AI to estimate real, current cost-of-living numbers for any destination on earth. Results typically land within 10-15% of actual on-the-ground costs. We adjust for season, accommodation tier, dining preference, and your activity pace to give you a number you can trust.
Does it work for any destination?
Yes. Type any city, region, or country - from Paris to Patagonia, Singapore to Sarajevo. The AI fetches the latest real cost data for each destination and tunes its tips to local neighbourhoods, transport apps, and food markets. There is no preset list.
Can I save my budget and share it later?
Yes. Hit Save & Share to generate a permanent shareable link and a QR code. Anyone you share it with - including yourself on a different device - can open the saved budget and see the full breakdown. No login required.
What is included in the budget breakdown?
Five categories: accommodation (per-night times nights), meals (per traveler times days), activities (scaled by your selected pace), local transport (metro, taxis, buses), and a 5-10% miscellaneous buffer for tips, water, and souvenirs. Flights between countries are not included - estimate those separately on Skyscanner or Google Flights.
How is this different from other travel budget tools?
Most budget calculators use static averages from blog posts. Ours queries an AI that knows current 2025 prices for specific neighbourhoods, named restaurants, and local transport apps. The tips are destination-specific, not generic ('use the IC card for Tokyo Metro' rather than 'use public transport').
Is the budget per person or for the whole group?
The total is for your entire group. We also show a per-person and per-day breakdown so you can plan individual contributions or daily spending limits.
