Family Friendly Hotels in Cabo, and the Connecting Door Nobody Publishes

Thirteen hotels across Cabo San Lucas, Medano Beach, the marina, the Pacific side and San Jose del Cabo, checked against their own websites in August 2026. Every room size, bed configuration, occupancy cap, fee and policy below was read on the hotel's own domain or its parent brand's. The finding that shapes the whole roster is an absence: not one of the thirteen states anywhere that two sellable rooms connect through a door.

Three patterns run through the roster. The first is the missing door: not one of the thirteen operators states that two sellable guest rooms connect, so the standard family solution of two rooms with a door between them is unavailable from published sources in Los Cabos, and one operator's adjoining bedrooms language describes two bedrooms inside one suite rather than two bookable rooms. The second is the two-number occupancy cap, which is the most useful convention here and is used by only three operators under two owners, publishing a mixed cap and an adult cap separately, for example two adults and two children or three adults. The third is that bigger and dearer holds fewer people at five of the thirteen, consistently enough to be a destination trait rather than a set of typos, and at three properties the dearer tier publishes less detail than the cheaper one.

What the bands mean

Two charges land on a Los Cabos bill that almost no operator explains. The first is the state Lodging Services Tax, which has been 4 per cent since 1 January 2023, and exactly one hotel on this roster says so: Casa Dorada publishes a dedicated page about it. The second is the municipal environmental sanitation right, set for 2026 at 70 per cent of the daily value of the Unidad de Medida y Actualizacion per hotel room per night, charged to the guest and retained by the hotel. Three operators publish three different versions of that same charge and only one gives a number, Casa Dorada at 82.12 Mexican pesos per room per night. Beyond the taxes, the money is barely published at all: two operators publish a cot price, one of them in euros on a resort that quotes rooms in dollars, and not one of the thirteen publishes a child price for breakfast.

The 13 hotels, and the room to ask for at each

Each row carries the operator's own published position and its own stated distance, quoted as the operator's claim rather than measured. That matters here because three Medano Beach operators each claim in their own words to be on the only swimmable beach in Cabo San Lucas, and one Pacific resort states plainly that swimming from its beach is not allowed at all.

    Here because it is the most honest operator in Los Cabos and the least usable for a family: it answers the cot question, the extra bed question and the pool depth question, and every answer is no.

Where not to book in Cabo San Lucas

Four things to settle. The first is the beach, because it is not one thing in Cabo: three Medano operators each claim in their own words to be on the only swimmable beach in Cabo San Lucas, a fourth on the same beach hedges, and Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach states plainly that swimming from its Pacific beach is not allowed because of strong currents. Playa Grande, also Pacific-facing, publishes nothing about currents either way. The second is Kids Stay Free, which four operators advertise and none defines: Marina Fiesta runs it across five pages and its own terms list five conditions without ever naming a child age. The third is the occupancy cap, which is published by fewer than half these hotels and which inverts at five of them, and Corazon Cabo states an occupancy for exactly one category across three towers of roughly 305 rooms. The fourth is the brand trap at Grand Velas: the large Grand Velas Los Cabos is family-oriented, while Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos is a separate 79-suite adults-only property with a near-identical name whose guests dine at the family resort, which blurs the two in search results.

When to book

Ask three questions in writing before you pay, because the answers are not on these websites. Ask what the cot costs, since eleven of the thirteen never mention one. Ask what the Kids Stay Free offer defines as a child, since none of the four operators running it says. And ask for the room's maximum occupancy in the form the Villa Group uses, as a mixed cap and an adult cap, because a Junior Suite that holds four holds four only when two of them are children. On timing, the meal plans carry conditions worth knowing early: Corazon Cabo requires every registered guest in the reservation to be on the all-inclusive plan with a minimum stay of three consecutive nights, and Villa del Arco and Villa del Palmar apply their plan to every person in the room including children above a published age, so a family cannot put only the adults on it.

Family hotels in Cabo San Lucas: FAQ

The questions parents ask most when booking a room here.

Not one of the thirteen checked publishes an interconnecting door. Across every rooms page, suites page, FAQ, policy page and terms page read, no operator states that two sellable guest rooms connect through a door. The nearest anything comes is Corazon Cabo, where the phrase appears at all but is never resolved into a door or a bookable pair, and Marina Fiesta, whose Nautical Family Two Bedroom Suite is described as having two adjoining bedrooms, which are two bedrooms inside a single suite rather than two rooms you can book separately and join. So the standard family solution elsewhere, two rooms with a door, cannot be arranged from published information in Los Cabos, and a larger family is buying either a genuine multi-bedroom suite or two unconnected rooms.

Nothing you can check before booking, at four of the thirteen. Marina Fiesta runs a headline reading 45 per cent off plus Kids Stay Free plus resort credits across five separate pages, and its published terms and conditions list five bullets covering availability, combinability, blackout dates and the right to withdraw, without stating a child age anywhere. Villa del Arco advertises Kids Stay Free across at least three packages with no age limit in any of them, and Villa del Palmar does the same. The two properties that do attach an age both bury it: Casa Dorada publishes free accommodation for two children up to 12 inside an offer available only in Canada, and Tropicana publishes children 12 and under free inside one dated promotion with a two-night minimum rather than as a hotel policy. Bahia is the exception that publishes it as a standing rule: children 12 and younger stay free with an accompanying adult.

Medano, on the operators' own claims, and not the Pacific side. Three Medano Beach hotels each state in their own words that Medano is the only swimmable stretch of beach in Cabo San Lucas, and a fourth on the same beach hedges the claim. On the other side of town, Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach answers the question directly and negatively: swimming is not allowed because of strong currents, and the beach suits sunbathing, beach walks and a cabana instead. That is the most useful sentence any of these operators publishes. Playa Grande, also Pacific-facing, publishes nothing at all about currents or swimming, which for a family booking a beach holiday is a significant silence rather than a reassurance.

Two of thirteen publish a cot price and both do it oddly. Playa Grande lists a cot at 15 euro on request on every room detail page, in euros, on a Mexican resort that quotes its room rates in US dollars, because its site runs on a Spanish booking engine. Los Milagros publishes the opposite answer twice and plainly: it cannot provide cribs, and you are welcome to bring your own. On extra beds, Bahia is the clearest, at 35 US dollars plus taxes a night for a child's rollaway with an adult rollaway on request and unpriced, plus a 55 dollar extra-person fee. Hotel Posada Terranova charges 105 Mexican pesos per extra guest per night and provides no bed for them. Los Milagros again publishes a flat refusal: no extra beds in any room, with a 20 dollar surcharge for a third person in a twin room only.

Two that almost nobody explains. The Baja California Sur Lodging Services Tax has been 4 per cent since 1 January 2023, and exactly one operator on this roster says so, Casa Dorada, on a page dedicated to it. Separately there is the municipal environmental sanitation right, set for 2026 at 70 per cent of the daily value of the Unidad de Medida y Actualizacion per hotel room per night, charged to the guest and kept by the hotel. Three operators publish three different versions of that same charge and only Casa Dorada gives a number, at 82.12 Mexican pesos per room per night, on a page dated January 2025 citing the specific articles it comes from. Exactly one hotel confirms a resort fee exists at all, Corazon Cabo, and it publishes no amount for it.

Yes, and it is the smallest and the least accommodating. Los Milagros publishes, in its own FAQ, that it cannot provide cribs, that it cannot provide rollaway or extra beds, that children count as adults at every age, and the maximum number of guests per room. It publishes its pool as open 9am to 10pm, unheated, five feet deep, guests only and with no lifeguard, which is the only pool depth and the only lifeguard statement anywhere in this research. Every one of those answers is a refusal, and taken together they are more useful to a family than any amount of Kids Stay Free marketing, because a family reading them knows immediately to book somewhere else rather than discovering it on arrival.
