Los Cabos Airport sits well outside the resorts, taxis are famously expensive, and timeshare booths pounce the moment you land. Here's the honest guide to getting from SJD to San José del Cabo, the Corridor or Cabo San Lucas - what each option costs and how to avoid the arrivals-hall sales pitch.

Los Cabos International Airport (SJD)Updated
In Brief

What's the best way to get from Los Cabos Airport to my resort?

A pre-booked private transfer is the clear winner in Cabo: official airport taxis are among the priciest in Mexico, there's no practical public bus for tourists, and rideshare is restricted at the airport. A private transfer runs about $60-90 per vehicle, meets you with a name sign, and takes roughly 20 minutes to San José del Cabo, 30 to the Tourist Corridor, or 40-45 to Cabo San Lucas. Book it before you fly and walk straight past the timeshare booths.

Tips to skip the airport hassle

  • Book ahead - Cabo taxis are pricey

Los Cabos taxis are notoriously expensive and airport rideshare is restricted, so a pre-booked private transfer is both cheaper and simpler. Lock in a fixed price before you fly and skip the negotiation.

  • The 'welcome' booths are timeshare

As you exit, uniformed people offering help, free transport or upgrades are timeshare sales staff. Politely decline and go to your booked driver or the official transport desks - don't follow anyone to a booth.

  • Know which town you're heading to

San José del Cabo (near the airport), the Corridor, and Cabo San Lucas are very different distances. Transfers price by zone, so book to the right one - Cabo San Lucas is roughly double the drive of San José.

  • Night arrivals: pre-booked is safest

Many flights land in the evening. A driver waiting with your name means no standing in a taxi line or haggling in the dark after a long day of travel.

  • Renting? Factor the real cost

A car is handy for Todos Santos or the East Cape, but Mexico's mandatory liability insurance roughly doubles the cheap online rate - only worth it if you'll drive beyond the resorts.
