Which Maldives resort works for a family once the boat is counted?
Kandima in Dhaalu Atoll is the most completely documented family resort in the country: it publishes a full transfer price table, kids club hours, a supervision cut-off, a childcare price ladder and a children-stay-free age, all on its own site. Adaaran Select Hudhuran Fushi is the cheapest family arithmetic anywhere here, at USD 88 a child for the speedboat with under-12s staying and dining free from April to October. Villa Nautica publishes occupancy better than anyone. Furaveri is the only resort that tells you honestly where the children actually sleep.
What the rate covers, and what it does not
In the Maldives the phrase all inclusive stops well short of the biggest number on the bill. Villa Resorts publishes the clearest proof of it anywhere: asked whether airport transfers are included in every all-inclusive plan, the group answers no, and states that complimentary shared return transfers come only with the Infinity plan, its top tier. Adaaran's complimentary transfer is real but conditional on length of stay and season, needing seven nights or more from April to October and fourteen nights or more from November to March, which is a longer trip than most families take. Read every inclusion row below as a statement about the board plan, and read the transfer row separately, because they are not the same purchase.

Which resort suits which family
| If this is you | Book | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Wanting every family number published before you book | Kandima Maldives | A full transfer table, kids club hours, a supervision cut-off at age 4 and a childcare price ladder, all on its own site. |
| Trying to keep the total down | Adaaran Select Hudhuran Fushi | USD 175 an adult and USD 88 a child for the round-trip speedboat, and under-12s stay and dine free from April to October. |
| Six people who need the capacity in writing | Villa Nautica, on Paradise Island | A 391 square metre Two-bedroom Ocean Suite published as sleeping four adults and two children, split out rather than totalled. |
| Arriving late with a toddler | Niva Kurumba or Bandos | Ten minutes by speedboat, against a seaplane that stops flying at 16:00. |
| Wanting to know where the children actually sleep | Furaveri Maldives | One extra bed at USD 25 a night, and a published explanation of the sofa bed you get if you do not buy it. |
What the bands mean
The gap between the cheapest and the dearest family transfer here is bigger than most people's accommodation budget, and it is set by geography rather than by how smart the resort is. Adaaran Select Hudhuran Fushi in North Male Atoll publishes USD 175 an adult and USD 88 a child for the round-trip speedboat. Amilla in Baa Atoll publishes US$850 an adult and US$450 a child for the round-trip seaplane, and it is the only operator in the set that admits its figure excludes taxes and the service fee. For two adults and two children that is USD 526 against more than US$2,600, before a single night of accommodation. Then add the Green Tax at USD 12 per person per night, collected on arrival, which is USD 336 on a seven-night stay for a family of four and which exactly one of the thirteen resorts states as a number.

Dhaalu Atoll, 40 minutes by seaplane
Kandima Maldives
€€€€Best all roundIn Dhaalu Atoll, and the most completely documented family resort in the country. It is the only property here publishing a full transfer price table, kids club hours, a supervision cut-off, a childcare price ladder and a children-stay-free age on its own domain.
- Room to book
- Book this room: 2 Bedroom Family Sky Suite, two bedrooms joined by a shared lounge

- Kandiland Aqua Park: minimum height None published · Year round, but only 11am to noon and 4pm to 6pm daily
- Children eating
- Two children up to 5.99 years stay and eat free on the direct-booking panel, though the Family Sky Suites page publishes a badge saying two children stay free with no age attached at all
- Restaurant reservations
- Not published
- Right for
- A family who want every family number settled on the resort's own website before booking.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone whose children are the ages that make the transfer hurt most.
- The catch
- The catch: The transfer is the most expensive thing about it, and its child fare is proportionally the worst value in this research: USD 375 against USD 675 on the seaplane is 55.6 per cent of the adult fare and USD 300 against USD 414 on the Comfort Class domestic route is 72.5 per cent, where every Adaaran island charges a child exactly half. The Aqua Park that a five-year-old comes for is open three hours a day in two blocks.
North Male Atoll, by shared speedboat
Adaaran Select Hudhuran Fushi
€€€Best valueIn North Male Atoll, and the cheapest island in this research to reach with children: a shared speedboat at USD 175 an adult and USD 88 a child round trip, with under-12s staying and dining free from April to October.

- Right for
- A family of four who want the cheapest published route to a private island.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone who needs to confirm the villa holds them before paying.
- The catch
- The catch: The published family economics are the best here and the published family detail is close to the worst. The Koamas Kids Club has no age band, no opening hours and no price anywhere, the family villas publish no occupancy number and no bed configuration, and the children-free offer disappears for the November to March high season.
North Male Atoll, 20 minutes by speedboat
Villa Nautica, on Paradise Island
€€€In North Male Atoll, 20 minutes out by speedboat, and the clearest publisher of family occupancy in the country: it splits adults from children instead of printing one headline number.

- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone budgeting from the board plan alone.
- The catch
- The catch: The occupancy publishing is the best in the country and everything a family needs to budget is missing: no transfer price, no kids club age or hours for Wavy Navy, no cot policy, no children-free age and no tax figure anywhere. The group's own terms still point guests at a domain that redirects elsewhere.
Raa Atoll, 45 minutes by seaplane or a domestic flight plus 45 minutes by speedboat
Furaveri Maldives
€€€€In Raa Atoll, and the only resort in this research that tells a family honestly what happens if they do not buy the extra bed, then prices the bed at USD 25 a night.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Any villa plus the extra bed add-on, which is capped at one per room
- Kids club
- Kids club: 4 to 11 years, with children of all ages welcome at the resort · Not published · Included
- Right for
- A family of four who want to know where the third and fourth people actually sleep.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone who needs the transfer priced before committing.
- The catch
- The catch: It publishes the two things that make a Maldives family trip painful and publishes them plainly: a seaplane wait it says can run from 30 minutes to a maximum of three hours, because the schedule is not the resort's to control, and a bed reality where one child gets a converted sofa and two children means one sleeps with the parents. What it will not publish is the transfer price.
Raa Atoll, by seaplane or domestic flight plus speedboat
Adaaran Select Meedhupparu
€€€€In Raa Atoll, publishing the best transfer table in the country, with dated forward prices in two stay-date bands so a family can see that the seaplane is rising and the domestic route is not.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Two-Bedroom Deluxe Family Beach Villa, 102 square metres, published capacity 6 adults
- Kids club
- Kids club: Not published · Not published · Included
- Right for
- A family booking a year ahead who want the transfer price they will actually pay.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: A family taking a week in high season, when the free transfer needs fourteen nights.
- The catch
- The catch: It publishes the best transfer table in the Maldives and the worst kids club page. Komas carries no age band, no opening hour and no price, and the group spells the club's name two different ways on its own site. The complimentary transfer needs seven nights in low season and fourteen in high, which is longer than most families travel.
South Ari Atoll, by seaplane
Villa Park, on Sun Island
€€€€In South Ari Atoll, a seaplane island with four separate two-bedroom products and an occupancy anomaly that costs real money.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Two-bedroom Family Beach Villa, 96 square metres, published as sleeping 4 adults and 2 children
- Right for
- A family who want a two-bedroom villa without paying for square metres they will not use.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone assuming a bigger villa holds more people.
- The catch
- The catch: The 96 square metre Two-bedroom Family Beach Villa and the 242 square metre Two-bedroom Beach Pool Villa hold exactly the same people on the operator's own numbers, so a family paying up for the larger one is buying space and nothing else. The largest villa on the island, a 465 square metre residence the resort calls a favourite for families, publishes no capacity at all.
South Male Atoll, by shared speedboat
Adaaran Club Rannalhi
€€€In South Male Atoll, the only island here publishing a named family package with the child benefit spelled out inside it, and publishing that benefit two incompatible ways.
- Room to book
- Book this room: No family villa type is published. The Family Getaway is a package rather than a room
- Right for
- A family of three who want a short speedboat and a package with the child benefit named.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: A family with two children, who cannot tell whether the second one is free.
- The catch
- The catch: The child benefit appears in two mutually inconsistent forms on the same website, one saying children under 12 stay and dine free and the other saying one child under 12 does, so a family of two adults and two children cannot work out what they will pay. There is no supervised kids club at all, only a play area and weekly beach games.
Baa Atoll, 35 minutes by shared seaplane
Amilla Maldives
€€€€In Baa Atoll inside a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, with the largest villas in this research and by far the most expensive way to reach them with children.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Two-Bedroom Treetop Pool Villa at 250 square metres, or the 530 square metre Two-Bedroom Beach Pool Villa
- Kids club
- Kids club: 4 to 12, with 3 and under admitted accompanied · Not published · Included, with babysitting charged separately
- Right for
- A family who want a two-bedroom villa the size of a house and have budgeted the seaplane.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone who has budgeted the seaplane at the headline figure.
- The catch
- The catch: The transfer is the story. US$850 an adult and US$450 a child round trip means two adults and two children pay over US$2,600 to reach the island, and Amilla is the only operator anywhere in this research honest enough to say that figure excludes taxes and the service fee. Its villa pages publish square metres for everything and occupancy for nothing.
North Male Atoll, 10 minutes by speedboat
Niva Kurumba
€€€In North Male Atoll and ten minutes from the airport by speedboat, which after a long-haul flight with a toddler is worth more than most published amenities.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Not published. No occupancy figure was rendered on any accommodation page
- Kids club
- Kids club: Activities tailored to 4 to 6 and 7 to 12 · Not published · Included
- Right for
- A family arriving late with a small child who cannot face a long boat.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone who needs the villa capacity confirmed in advance.
- The catch
- The catch: Ten minutes from the airport is the whole case for it, and the resort publishes no transfer price, no villa occupancy, no cot policy and no children-free age. Its one genuinely useful age gate is that children can dive from 8, which is the only published minimum age on any activity anywhere in this research.
North Male Atoll, 10 minutes by speedboat
Bandos Maldives
€€€Also ten minutes out in North Male Atoll, with a published kids club age band and the only interconnecting language here that refers to two separately bookable rooms.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Deluxe Beachfront Rooms, sold with the possibility of interconnecting rather than a guarantee
- Kids club
- Kids club: 3 to 11 years · Not published · Included
- Right for
- A family who want a short boat and a kids club with an age actually published.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone who needs the connecting door guaranteed.
- The catch
- The catch: The interconnecting rooms are offered as a possibility rather than a bookable product, no room type publishes an occupancy figure, and the in-villa credit limit is capped at US$1,500, which a family on a long all-inclusive stay will reach.
Rasdhoo Atoll, 20 minutes by seaplane or 75 to 90 minutes by speedboat
Niva Kuramathi
€€€€In Rasdhoo Atoll, with a named kids club for ages 3 to 12 and a website that answers family questions using a different resort's facts.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Not published on any page reached
- Kids club
- Kids club: 3 to 12 years · Not published · Included
- Right for
- A family who want a long-established island with a kids club age they can rely on.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: A family with a toddler facing a 90-minute speedboat.
- The catch
- The catch: The 75 to 90 minute speedboat alternative to the seaplane is unusually long for the Maldives and a real consideration with a small child, and the resort publishes no price for either route. Its own FAQ page mixes in a sister resort's kids club, naming a different club, a different age band and a splash zone, which makes the most important family fact on the site ambiguous until you read it twice.
Kaafu Atoll, 30 minutes by speedboat
Kuda Villingili Resort
€€€€Thirty minutes out in North Male Atoll with round-the-clock transfers, marketed on the largest pool in the Maldives and publishing nothing about it that a parent needs.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Not published on the pages reached
- Kids club
- Kids club: Not published · Not published · Not published
- Pools and slides
- The resort's main pool, marketed as the largest in the Maldives: minimum height None published · Year round
- Right for
- A family landing at an awkward hour, because the boat runs at any time.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: The parent of a five-year-old who needs to know how deep the pool is.
- The catch
- The catch: It leads with the largest pool in the Maldives and then publishes no depth, no child age rule, no restricted hours and no lifeguard statement for it, which are the four things a parent of a small child actually needs. The round-the-clock 30-minute speedboat is a genuine advantage over every seaplane island here and it is buried.
Mudhdhoo Island, Baa Atoll, 35 minutes by seaplane or a 25-minute domestic flight plus 10 minutes by speedboat
Dusit Thani Maldives
€€€€In Baa Atoll, and here for one fact almost nobody else publishes: the seaplane only flies in daylight, from 06:30 to 16:00, and an evening arrival forces you onto the domestic flight instead.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Not established. No accommodation page could be reached on the operator's domain
- Right for
- A family whose long-haul flight lands in the evening and who need to know what that means.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone choosing on published family detail, because there is almost none.
- The catch
- The catch: Everything except the arrival logistics is unverified here and it should not be given the benefit of the doubt. No kids club, no villa occupancy, no cot policy and no price of any kind could be read from the operator's own site. It earns its place on this page for the seaplane operating window alone.
Where not to book in the Maldives
Four traps, and the first is the biggest. Never assume the transfer is inside an all-inclusive rate: Villa Resorts states outright that it is excluded from Fullboard, All Inclusive, Premium All Inclusive and Dine-Around Premium, and included only on its top Infinity plan, and Adaaran's complimentary version needs seven nights from April to October or fourteen from November to March. The second is the seaplane timetable, because it flies in daylight only, from 06:30 to 16:00 on Dusit Thani's published window, so an evening arrival means a domestic flight or an airport-island night whatever the resort's website implies. The third is the Green Tax at USD 12 per person per night, collected on arrival rather than at booking, which twelve of the thirteen resorts never mention. The fourth is that a kids club with a name is not a kids club with hours: only Kandima publishes opening times and a supervision cut-off, and Adaaran's Komas Club publishes no age, no hour and no price while appearing under two different spellings on the group's own site. Two Adaaran properties, Prestige Water Villas and Prestige Island Resort, publish adult-only transfer pricing and do not accept children at all, so check the property and not just the brand.
When to book
Book the transfer before the room, and read the stay-date band it is priced in. Adaaran is the only group publishing a dated forward price, and its seaplane to Meedhupparu rises from USD 550 to USD 575 an adult for stays from 1 November 2026, with the child fare going from USD 275 to USD 288, while the domestic flight plus speedboat option holds flat at USD 475 and USD 238 across both bands. Kandima's seaplane rises from USD 675 to USD 725 an adult on 11 January 2027. If the trip is flexible, a seven-night stay between April and October unlocks Adaaran's complimentary transfer and its children-under-12-free offer at the same time, which is the single largest saving available anywhere on this page. Send flight details early: Niva Kurumba asks for them 72 hours ahead, and Furaveri warns that the seaplane wait can run from 30 minutes to a maximum of three hours because the schedule is not the resort's to control.
