Is the airport transfer included in a Maldives all-inclusive family rate?

Usually not, and one group says so in as many words. Asked whether airport transfers are included in every all-inclusive plan, Villa Resorts answers no, and states that transfers are not included in Fullboard, All Inclusive, Premium All Inclusive or Dine-Around Premium All Inclusive, with complimentary shared return transfers coming only with the Infinity plan, its top tier. Adaaran offers a conditional version, complimentary domestic flight and speedboat transfers on stays of seven nights or more from April to October and fourteen nights or more from November to March. Everywhere else the transfer is a separate purchase, and on the seaplane islands it is frequently the largest single line on the booking.

How much does a child pay for the seaplane or speedboat?

Half the adult fare almost everywhere, and more than half at one resort. Adaaran charges children aged 2 to 11.99 exactly half at all four of its islands and treats a 12-year-old as an adult, which works out at USD 88 round trip for the Hudhuran Fushi speedboat, USD 95 at Club Rannalhi and USD 275 for the Meedhupparu seaplane. Kandima is the outlier: USD 375 against USD 675 on the seaplane is 55.6 per cent, and USD 300 against USD 414 on the Comfort Class domestic route is 72.5 per cent. Kandima is also the only resort here publishing a named infant exemption on the transfer itself, that infants below 1.99 travel free. Amilla is the most expensive at US$450 a child round trip, and the only operator that states its price excludes taxes and the service fee.

Do Maldives resorts charge for a cot?

Nobody publishes it. Not one of the thirteen resorts publishes a cot charge and not one publishes a cot policy, and the words cot and crib appear on no FAQ, terms page or accommodation page reached in this research. The only bedding charge published anywhere is Furaveri's extra bed at USD 25 a night, capped at one per room, and Furaveri is also the only resort that explains what happens if you do not buy it: one child gets the sofa converted into a sofa bed, and with two children one sleeps with the parents and the other takes the sofa bed. If you are travelling with a baby, this is a question to settle by email before booking.

What is the Green Tax and when do you pay it?

It is USD 12 per person per night at a private-island resort, and it is collected on arrival rather than at booking. Adaaran states it in its own terms and is the only one of the thirteen resorts here that gives the figure at all. For a family of four on seven nights that is USD 336 payable at the resort, on top of a rate that looked complete when it was booked. Note that the rate is not universal across the country: the local-island hotels covered on the sibling Maldives hotels page are charged at either USD 12 or USD 6 per person per night depending on how many rooms the property is registered for, and one operator publishes both rates in a single sentence.

Which Maldives resorts have a real kids club with published hours?

One. Kandima publishes that Kandiland welcomes children aged 6 months to 12 years, opens daily from 9am to 8pm, and splits supervision at age 4, with under-4s needing a parent present unless babysitting is arranged and children of 4 to 12 able to take part without one. Everybody else publishes an age band at best. Niva Kuramathi's Bageecha serves ages 3 to 12, Bandos publishes 3 to 11, Furaveri 4 to 11, Amilla 4 to 12 and Niva Kurumba splits activities into 4 to 6 and 7 to 12, and none of them publishes an opening hour or a cost. Adaaran's Komas Kids Club publishes nothing at all, and the group spells its name two different ways.

Are there waterslides for children at Maldives resorts?

Not in the way a family resort elsewhere means it, and no resort here publishes a height limit. Not one of the thirteen publishes a minimum height in centimetres for any water feature. Kandima's Kandiland Aqua Park is the closest thing to one and it is a small children's play area open three hours a day, from 11am to noon and again from 4pm to 6pm, with parents responsible for supervising under-4s in it. Kuda Villingili markets the largest pool in the Maldives and publishes no depth, no child age rule and no lifeguard statement for it. A type of page that usually turns on slide heights has an empty column here, and the honest reason is that the water in the Maldives is the sea.

What the rate covers, and what it does not

In the Maldives the phrase all inclusive stops well short of the biggest number on the bill. Villa Resorts publishes the clearest proof of it anywhere: asked whether airport transfers are included in every all-inclusive plan, the group answers no, and states that complimentary shared return transfers come only with the Infinity plan, its top tier. Adaaran's complimentary transfer is real but conditional on length of stay and season, needing seven nights or more from April to October and fourteen nights or more from November to March, which is a longer trip than most families take. The gap between the cheapest and the dearest family transfer here is bigger than most people's accommodation budget, and it is set by geography rather than by how smart the resort is. Adaaran Select Hudhuran Fushi in North Male Atoll publishes USD 175 an adult and USD 88 a child for the round-trip speedboat. Amilla in Baa Atoll publishes US$850 an adult and US$450 a child for the round-trip seaplane, and it is the only operator in the set that admits its figure excludes taxes and the service fee. For two adults and two children that is USD 526 against more than US$2,600, before a single night of accommodation. Then add the Green Tax at USD 12 per person per night, collected on arrival, which is USD 336 on a seven-night stay for a family of four and which exactly one of the thirteen resorts states as a number.

Four traps, and the first is the biggest. Never assume the transfer is inside an all-inclusive rate: Villa Resorts states outright that it is excluded from Fullboard, All Inclusive, Premium All Inclusive and Dine-Around Premium, and included only on its top Infinity plan, and Adaaran's complimentary version needs seven nights from April to October or fourteen from November to March. The second is the seaplane timetable, because it flies in daylight only, from 06:30 to 16:00 on Dusit Thani's published window, so an evening arrival means a domestic flight or an airport-island night whatever the resort's website implies. The third is the Green Tax at USD 12 per person per night, collected on arrival rather than at booking, which twelve of the thirteen resorts never mention. The fourth is that a kids club with a name is not a kids club with hours: only Kandima publishes opening times and a supervision cut-off, and Adaaran's Komas Club publishes no age, no hour and no price while appearing under two different spellings on the group's own site. Two Adaaran properties, Prestige Water Villas and Prestige Island Resort, publish adult-only transfer pricing and do not accept children at all, so check the property and not just the brand.

When to book

Book the transfer before the room, and read the stay-date band it is priced in. Adaaran is the only group publishing a dated forward price, and its seaplane to Meedhupparu rises from USD 550 to USD 575 an adult for stays from 1 November 2026, with the child fare going from USD 275 to USD 288, while the domestic flight plus speedboat option holds flat at USD 475 and USD 238 across both bands. Kandima's seaplane rises from USD 675 to USD 725 an adult on 11 January 2027. If the trip is flexible, a seven-night stay between April and October unlocks Adaaran's complimentary transfer and its children-under-12-free offer at the same time, which is the single largest saving available anywhere on this page. Send flight details early: Niva Kurumba asks for them 72 hours ahead, and Furaveri warns that the seaplane wait can run from 30 minutes to a maximum of three hours because the schedule is not the resort's to control.
