The Best Time to Visit Vancouver

Best: July to early September for the weather, October for the valueCheapest: January and February, with October the first honest drop

Vancouver has a rain reputation it only half deserves. July collects 34 millimetres across six wet days, which is less than a fifth of what November delivers, and August has the sunniest share of daylight in the year. What actually sets the price of your room is not the weather at all: it is the Alaska cruise season at Canada Place, which ran from late February to 13 October in 2026 and put nearly 360 ships through a three-berth terminal. Rooms get cheaper when the ships stop, not when the rain starts.

In Brief

When is the best time to visit Vancouver?

July to early September, when normals run 22 degrees by day and rain almost stops: July averages 34 millimetres across just 6.2 wet days, against 174.6 millimetres and 19.6 wet days in November. If you want the same city for less, come in October, which is when prices genuinely break because the last Alaska cruise ship leaves. September is not the quiet bargain everyone claims - Vancouver had marginally more overnight visitors in September 2025 than in May, and hotel pressure runs April through September.
