Family Friendly Hotels in Vancouver, Sorted by What the Room Actually Holds
Best for a family of four: Residence Inn by Marriott Vancouver DowntownDowntown Vancouver has a problem nobody writes about: almost no hotel room in it officially sleeps five. Across twenty properties checked against their own websites in August 2026, exactly two publish a room for more than four people, and one of them makes you choose between the extra beds and the kitchen. Everything below starts from the room configuration rather than the rank, because that is the part that decides whether your family fits in one booking.
Which hotels in Vancouver actually fit a family?
For a family of four, Residence Inn Vancouver Downtown is the cleanest answer: its Studio Two Queens publishes a maximum occupancy of four, every unit has a full kitchen, breakfast is free and hot, and the pool is indoors. For value, and for anyone with three children, Times Square Suites is the only hotel in the city that publishes rooms for five and six people with full kitchens, free cots and children under 12 staying free. Ignore both if you want five or six in one room in the middle of downtown, because the only two hotels that publish rooms that size are both out at the Stanley Park end of the West End.

A dash means the operator publishes nothing, which is different from a no. Vancouver publishes far less than families assume: only one hotel in the city puts a cot price in writing.

What the bands mean
No Vancouver hotel publishes a fixed nightly rate, so the bands are relative tiers rather than quotes. The checkable anchors from the operators' own pages in August 2026 are the fees that surround a family booking: parking runs from 23.95 dollars plus tax at the Blue Horizon to 70 self and 85 valet at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Century Plaza is the only hotel in the city that publishes a rollaway price at 30 dollars plus tax a night, an extra adult costs 25 at Times Square Suites and 30 at the Blue Horizon, and the Fairmont Waterfront charges 75 dollars for a connecting door unless you book seven days ahead on its family offer. The euro symbols are relative markers, cheapest to dearest, as on every non-UK page of this site.

The 12 hotels, and the room to ask for at each
Walking times are to the Stanley Park entrance at Lost Lagoon. Measured in August 2026 on OpenStreetMap foot routing at about 4.3 km/h, from each hotel's own published address to the Lost Lagoon entrance to Stanley Park. The spread is the point: only the West End properties are inside a 20-minute walk, and every hotel in the financial district is a 35 to 40 minute walk or a bus ride away.
West End, Robson at Denman

The Standard 2 Bedroom holds five adults, the Large 2 Bedroom holds six, and the Two Bedroom Two Bathroom at 1,060 square feet takes six adults or four adults with up to four children under 12.

Sylvia Hotel
€The 1912 ivy-covered heritage hotel on English Bay, and the only other place in Vancouver publishing rooms above four. The Three Bed Unit sleeps five on two queens and a single; the Classic Three Bed Unit sleeps six across two rooms with two queens, a double and a pull-out sofa.

Hornby Street
Residence Inn by Marriott Vancouver Downtown
€€Best for fourThe suite hotel that solves a family of four properly: Marriott publishes a literal maximum occupancy per room type, and the Studio Two Queens at 465 square feet takes four. Every unit has a full kitchen, breakfast is a free hot buffet, and there is an indoor pool and whirlpool.

Fairmont Waterfront
€€€€The harbour-front Fairmont, and the clearest connecting-room policy among the luxury properties: every room page lists connecting rooms as available on request. Eight room types publish an occupancy of four, including a 2,002 square foot Stanley Park Suite with its own kitchen. The outdoor pool is 50 feet, heated and open year round.

Burrard Street
Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre
€€€The twin-tower Sheraton on Burrard with the largest published family rooms downtown: a 691 square foot Family room with a king in one bedroom and two doubles in the other, and an 897 square foot Two Bedroom Suite with two kings and two bathrooms. The indoor pool runs 6am to 11pm.

- The catch: Rollaway beds are not permitted in any room type, and both the 691 and 897 square foot family layouts still cap at four people despite having three and four beds between them.
West Georgia
Rosewood Hotel Georgia
€€€€The 1927 landmark on West Georgia, and the only hotel in Vancouver that names which room type connects to which: the Rosewood Suite combines with a connecting Superior King to make a three-bedroom, and the Grand Premier Gallery View Suite connects with a Deluxe Room with Two Double Beds. There is a heated 52-foot indoor saltwater lap pool.

- Wrong for: Anyone driving anything tall: parking is valet only at 70 dollars with a hard 6 foot 6 limit and no self-park at any price.
- The catch
- The catch: The two largest family suites, the Lord Stanley and the Rosewood, are published as non-refundable and non-cancellable from the moment you book.
Robson Street
Blue Horizon Hotel
€€A Robson Street tower where every room is a corner room with a balcony, and which publishes the most explicit occupancy policy in Vancouver: three adults maximum, or four people if the fourth is a child of 16 or under. Children 16 and under stay free with their parents. The indoor lap pool runs 6am to 10pm.

- The catch: The pool closes for an hour every afternoon between 2 and 3, the garage clears only 6 feet 2, and there is no kitchen or microwave in any room.
Canada Place
Pan Pacific Vancouver
€€€€The hotel built into Canada Place, with the rooftop heated saltwater pool that stays open all year and the harbour underneath the window. It publishes a clear kids-stay-free rule and complimentary cribs, but no maximum occupancy for any of its seventeen room categories.

- The catch: The garage is run by Indigo and independently owned, so the hotel publishes no parking rate at all, and the lower level clears only 6 foot 9.
Coal Harbour

€€€A Coal Harbour four-star that publishes a maximum occupancy against every single room type, which is rarer than it should be. Four types take four people: both Two Queens categories and both Premium King rooms with a double sofa bed. The pool is outdoor and heated, open year round weather permitting.

€€A Davie Street all-suite hotel with the most precisely itemised kitchens in the city: full-size fridge with freezer, cook-top and oven, dishwasher, kettle and toaster, plus an in-suite washer-dryer and a walk-out balcony in every unit. Every suite type publishes a maximum of four adults.

- The catch: Capacity is published in adults only, so whether children count toward the four is not addressed anywhere, and no square footage is published for any suite.
Burrard at Nelson
Century Plaza Hotel and Spa
€€A Burrard Street tower with studios and one-bedroom suites, full kitchens on request, and an indoor pool. Its distinction is small and genuinely useful: it is the only hotel in this entire comparison that publishes what an extra bed costs.

- The catch
- The catch: The parking garage has no lift and is reached by stairs from level P2, which is a real problem with luggage and a pushchair.
West Hastings
Auberge Vancouver Hotel
€€€A small hotel in the Terminal City Club tower with 600 square foot suites, including a Double Double City View Suite with a separate bedroom holding two double beds and a queen sofa bed in the living room. It is here mainly as a warning, because of the pool.

- Wrong for: Anyone with a child under five, who is barred from the pool entirely by a written rule.
- The catch
- The catch: The pool belongs to the neighbouring Terminal City Club: under-5s cannot use it at all, it is adults only for four hours on weekdays and the first two at weekends, and it closes on twelve statutory holidays including Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Where not to book in Vancouver
The mistake here is geographic as well as numerical. Families picture Vancouver as a city where Stanley Park is at the end of the street, and for the West End hotels it nearly is: Times Square Suites is a measured 19 minutes from the Lost Lagoon entrance and the Sylvia is 20. Every hotel in the financial district is a 35 to 40 minute walk, so a downtown room means a bus with tired children at the end of the day. The compensating fact is TransLink's, and it is unusually generous: children 12 and under travel free on buses, SkyTrain, SeaBus and the West Coast Express, they do not need to be with a fare-paying adult, and there is no published cap on how many. The other trap is assuming a rollaway will absorb a fifth person. Marriott states plainly that rollaway beds are not permitted in any room type at either Residence Inn or the Sheraton Wall Centre, and the Blue Horizon says twice that it has none at all.
When to book
Book earlier than you would for most cities, because the pressure is not seasonal in the way you expect. Destination Vancouver puts hotel occupancy pressure across April to September, where it can reach 95 percent, and the driver is the Alaska cruise season at Canada Place, which ran from late February to 13 October in 2026 with nearly 360 sailings. If your dates are flexible, October is the first month when rates genuinely ease, and February is the cheapest and quietest month of the year while also being the driest of the winter. For a family room specifically, book as far ahead as you can regardless of month: with only two hotels in the city publishing anything above four people, the five-person inventory is tiny and it does not grow in the summer.
