Does a Maldives all-inclusive plan include the airport transfer?

No, at all twelve resorts whose plan documents were read for this page. Not one plan lists the transfer as an inclusion. Three publish a transfer benefit separately and all three write it per person with a cap: Siyam World gives a free shared seaplane transfer for one person on a four-night stay and two persons on a seven-night stay, and Sun Siyam Iru Fushi gives a free seaplane transfer for two guests on a minimum seven-night stay. None of them says whether a child counts as one of those persons, so a family of four is buying at least two fares regardless. Iru Fushi is the only operator that states the position plainly, writing that transfer fees and green tax still apply to its children-stay-free offer.

What does a child cost at a Maldives all-inclusive resort?

Less than an adult where it is published, and the transfer is never included. Sun Siyam Iru Fushi publishes the most generous terms: up to two children under 15 stay and eat free when sharing a villa with two full-paying adults, plus a free kids menu in all a la carte restaurants except Teppanyaki for under-15s. Siyam World publishes under-12s staying free in a parent's room, up to two children. Three Cinnamon resorts run a summer offer for up to two children staying and dining free and publish no age band for it at all. Against that, green tax is charged on children too, at 12 US dollars per person per night where it is published, and zero of the twelve publish a child transfer fare.

Do Maldives all-inclusive plans run 24 hours?

Several do not, despite the names. Four of the twelve run on a clock that switches off overnight. Cinnamon Dhonveli publishes its premium plan as valid from 8am to midnight and states plainly that food and beverages are charged outside that. Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa runs 7am to midnight, and publishes both a 7am and a 7:30am start in its own material. Ellaidhoo's beverages run 9am to midnight. Cinnamon Velifushi's document says the plan is not valid between 11pm and 11am while the same document puts breakfast at 07:30, which read literally excludes its own breakfast. For a family with a child who wakes early, those hours are the difference between an included breakfast and a bill.

Which Maldives resorts have a kids club, and do they close for lunch?

Five of the twelve publish a named club and two of those close in the middle of the day. Sun Siyam Olhuveli's Maakana Kidz Club runs 9am to noon and then 2pm to 10pm. Vilu Reef's Turtle Kidz Club runs 9am to 1pm and then 2pm to 10pm. Siyam World's Kidz World runs 9am to 10pm with no break, and Iru Fushi's Koamas Kidz Club runs 8am to 9pm. Emerald, Meeru and Kuredu all name a club and publish no hours at all. Veligandu publishes none: the words kids club do not appear in its factsheet or on any page reached, which for a resort with a six-person villa is worth knowing before booking.

What is excluded from a premium all-inclusive plan in the Maldives?

In-villa dining almost everywhere, at least one named restaurant at most resorts, and the transfer at all of them. The specific exclusions are where these plans actually differ. Siyam World discounts its Japanese restaurant by 50 per cent rather than including it. Iru Fushi excludes Teppanyaki from every meal plan and adds a 50 dollar per person no-show fee for it. Sun Siyam Olhuveli excludes two whole outlets, and its own plan document then lists one of them in its afternoon-tea section. Emerald excludes in-villa dining and anything off the set menu at its three a la carte restaurants. Veligandu excludes motorised watersports and excursions as a category.

Why does Kuredu decide which restaurant you eat in?

Because at Kuredu the board plan is a seating plan. The operator allocates your restaurant by room category and publishes the rule plainly: food and beverages from Sangu Restaurant and Sangu Bar are for Garden Bungalow, Beach Bungalow and Premium Beach Bungalow guests, which means the three cheapest categories are barred from it. A family booking the cheapest bungalow is therefore buying a different holiday from a family two categories up, on the same island, under the same plan name. It is the clearest example in this research of why the plan document matters more than the plan's name, and no listing site carries it.

Sun Siyam Iru Fushi publishes the most generous child terms and is honest about their limits: up to two children under 15 stay and eat free, and the operator states in the same sentence that transfer fees and green tax still apply. Emerald Maldives runs the only plan in the set that lasts until you board the plane rather than stopping at noon. Meeru and Kuredu both publish genuine two-bedroom family villas. Ellaidhoo is the one to read twice, because both of its plan documents say the package applies only to adults while the resort runs a children-stay-free summer offer.

What the rate covers, and what it does not

Read the exclusions before the inclusions, because in the Maldives the plans are broadly similar and the exclusions are where they differ. Four things recur. The transfer is out at all twelve. What the bands mean

Zero of the twelve publish a child transfer price with an age band, which is the single largest published gap in this research and the one number a family most needs. What they do publish is the shape of the benefit, and it is per person: Siyam World gives a free shared seaplane transfer for one person at four nights and two persons at seven, and Sun Siyam Iru Fushi gives free seaplane transfer for two guests at seven nights. Neither says whether a child counts as one of those persons. On tax, only three of the twelve publish a green tax figure and all three are Sun Siyam properties quoting the same twelve dollars per person per night. Only Sun Siyam publishes the service charge and tax as rates, at 10 per cent service and 17 per cent goods and services tax.

Where not to book in the Maldives

Four traps. The first is the free transfer offer, which reads as a family benefit and is written per person: one person at four nights and two at seven at Siyam World, two guests at seven nights at Iru Fushi, and neither says whether a child counts as one of those people, so a family of four never gets four seats. The second is the plan clock, because four of these plans switch off overnight and one, read literally, is not valid during its own breakfast service. The third is the restaurant allocation at Kuredu, where your board plan depends on your room category and the three cheapest categories are barred from one restaurant outright. The fourth is Ellaidhoo, which sells a children-stay-and-dine-free summer offer while both of its plan documents say the package is only applicable for adults. Ask which is true before booking, in writing.

When to book

Book the transfer conversation before the room. Zero of these twelve publish a child transfer price and only three publish any transfer benefit at all, so the total cannot be worked out from any website and has to be quoted by email.
