Which Maldives all-inclusive plan is worth it for a family?
Sun Siyam Iru Fushi publishes the most generous child terms and is honest about their limits: up to two children under 15 stay and eat free, and the operator states in the same sentence that transfer fees and green tax still apply. Emerald Maldives runs the only plan in the set that lasts until you board the plane rather than stopping at noon. Meeru and Kuredu both publish genuine two-bedroom family villas. Ellaidhoo is the one to read twice, because both of its plan documents say the package applies only to adults while the resort runs a children-stay-free summer offer.
What the rate covers, and what it does not
Read the exclusions before the inclusions, because in the Maldives the plans are broadly similar and the exclusions are where they differ. Four things recur. The transfer is out at all twelve. A supplement or an outright bar applies at named restaurants: Siyam World discounts its Japanese restaurant by 50 per cent inside a premium plan, Iru Fushi excludes Teppanyaki and adds a 50 dollar no-show fee, and Sun Siyam Olhuveli excludes two whole outlets while its own afternoon-tea section lists one of them. In-villa dining is out almost everywhere. And several plans run on a clock: Cinnamon Dhonveli is valid 8am to midnight, Hakuraa Huraa 7am to midnight, Ellaidhoo's beverages 9am to midnight, and Cinnamon Velifushi's document says its plan is not valid between 11pm and 11am while the same document puts breakfast at 07:30.

Which resort suits which family
| If this is you | Book | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Travelling with two children under 15 | Sun Siyam Iru Fushi | Up to two children under 15 stay and eat free, with a free kids menu in every a la carte restaurant except Teppanyaki. |
| Wanting a short boat rather than a seaplane | Meeru or Sun Siyam Olhuveli | A 60-minute and a 45-minute speedboat respectively, against seaplanes that stop flying at 6pm. |
| Five or six in one villa | Siyam World or Kuredu | Both publish two-bedroom villas at six adults or four adults and two children, with the beds named at Kuredu. |
| Flying home in the evening | Emerald Maldives | The only plan here that runs until you board the plane rather than stopping at noon on departure day. |
| Comparing on the total rather than the rate | Ask for the child transfer fare first | Zero of the twelve publish one, and it is usually the largest single line on a Maldives family booking. |
What the bands mean
Zero of the twelve publish a child transfer price with an age band, which is the single largest published gap in this research and the one number a family most needs. What they do publish is the shape of the benefit, and it is per person: Siyam World gives a free shared seaplane transfer for one person at four nights and two persons at seven, and Sun Siyam Iru Fushi gives free seaplane transfer for two guests at seven nights. Neither says whether a child counts as one of those persons. On tax, only three of the twelve publish a green tax figure and all three are Sun Siyam properties quoting the same twelve dollars per person per night. Only Sun Siyam publishes the service charge and tax as rates, at 10 per cent service and 17 per cent goods and services tax.

Noonu Atoll, by seaplane
Sun Siyam Iru Fushi
€€€€Best all roundIn Noonu Atoll, with the most generous published child terms in this research and an operator honest enough to state in the same sentence what those terms do not cover.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Family Deluxe Beach Villa with Pool, published as four adults and one child or two adults and three children
- Kids club
- Kids club: 3 to 11.99 on the factsheet and the plan document, 3 to 11 on the offer page · 8am to 9pm · runs through lunch · Included
- Children eating
- Up to two children under 15 stay and eat free, and children under 14.99 get a free kids menu in all a la carte restaurants except Teppanyaki
- Right for
- A family with two children under 15 who read the conditions and budget the seaplane separately.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone who reads the kids-free headline and stops there.
- The catch
- The catch: The children-stay-and-eat-free headline is real and generous, and the green tax is 12 dollars per person per night for the children too, and the seaplane fare is theirs to pay. The operator says all of that in its own terms, which is more than most, but it is the part the offer page's headline does not carry.
North Male Atoll, 60 minutes by speedboat
Meeru Maldives Resort Island
€€€Best valueIn North Male Atoll on a 60-minute speedboat, with a genuine two-bedroom family villa published as two adults and three children and a kids playroom for under-12s.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Two Bedroom Villa, a king in the master and two twins in the second bedroom, 86 square metres
- Kids club
- Kids club: Children up to 12 years old · Not published · No charge published
- Right for
- A family of five who want a speedboat island rather than a seaplane one.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone who needs the transfer priced before committing.
- The catch
- The catch: The included snorkelling lesson does not include the equipment, and the resort publishes no transfer price at all, so the single largest line on a family booking has to be quoted by email before you can compare it with anything else.
Noonu Atoll, by seaplane or domestic flight plus speedboat
Siyam World Maldives
€€€€In Noonu Atoll, with the broadest plan in the set, a kids club open 9am to 10pm, and a free-transfer offer written per person that tops out at two people.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Two Bedroom Pool Beach Villa, published as six adults or four adults and two children
- Kids club
- Kids club: 3 to 11.99, with under-3s accompanied · 9am to 10pm, the longest published day here · runs through lunch · Included, with babysitting charged separately
- Right for
- A family of five or six who want a genuinely broad plan and a long kids club day.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: A family of four counting on the free transfer.
- The catch
- The catch: The plan is genuinely broad and the free-transfer offer that makes the price look reasonable is written per person and tops out at two, so a family of four still buys two or more seaplane seats at a fare the operator does not publish anywhere.
Lhaviyani Atoll, 40 minutes by chartered seaplane
Kuredu Island Resort & Spa
€€€€In Lhaviyani Atoll, where the board plan is a seating plan: your restaurant is allocated by room category and the three cheapest categories are barred from the best one.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Two Bedroom Beach Villa, published as six adults or four adults and two children, 78 square metres
- Kids club
- Kids club: 4 to 12 · Not published · Free for guests
- Right for
- A larger family who will book above the cheapest bungalow categories.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: A family booking the cheapest room and expecting the whole island.
- The catch
- The catch: The board plan is a seating plan as much as a meal plan. Book the cheapest bungalow with a young child and you are allocated to one restaurant and explicitly barred from Sangu. Note also that seaplanes operate 6am to 6pm only, so a late international arrival cannot reach the island the same day.
Raa Atoll, 40 minutes by seaplane or a domestic flight plus speedboat
Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa
€€€€In Raa Atoll, and the only resort in this research whose plan runs until you board the plane rather than stopping at noon on departure day.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Two Bedroom Family Beach Villa with Pool, a master bedroom plus a kids bedroom with its own bathroom
- Kids club
- Kids club: 3 to 12 · Not published · No charge published
- Right for
- A family with a late departure flight, who gain a whole extra day of the plan.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone comparing on numbers, because there are almost none.
- The catch
- The catch: It is the only plan here that runs until you board the plane rather than stopping at noon, and the resort publishes almost nothing else in numbers: no villa occupancy, no kids club hours and no green tax figure. The kids club has its own restaurant and the operator does not say whether meals there are inside the plan.
South Male Atoll, 45 minutes by speedboat
Sun Siyam Olhuveli
€€€In South Male Atoll on a 45-minute speedboat, with a kids club that shuts from noon to 2pm and a plan document that contradicts itself about one of its own outlets.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Two Bedroom Beach Residence, published as six adults or four adults and two children, 310 square metres
- Kids club
- Kids club: 3 to 12, or 3 to 11.99 depending which operator document you read · 9am to noon and 2pm to 10pm · closes over lunch · Included
- Right for
- A family who want a short speedboat rather than a seaplane.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Parents planning to use the kids club over lunch.
- The catch
- The catch: The kids club shuts from noon to 2pm every day, which is exactly the window parents plan around, and the plan turns into a bar tab after midnight everywhere except one bar. The resort also publishes no children-stay-free offer at all while two of its sister properties do.
Dhaalu Atoll, 35 minutes by seaplane
Sun Siyam Vilu Reef
€€€€In Dhaalu Atoll, publishing a babysitting rate where almost nobody does, and unable to agree with itself about who its kids club is for.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Room categories publish two or three children each, with several child counts not legible in the operator's own extracted text
- Kids club
- Kids club: 4 to 12 or 3 to 11.99, depending which of the operator's two documents you read · 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 10pm · closes over lunch · Included, with babysitting at 25 dollars an hour
- Right for
- Parents who want a published childcare rate rather than a vague additional charge.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone who needs one answer about the kids club rather than two.
- The catch
- The catch: The resort's own two documents cannot agree on who its kids club is for, 4 to 12 or 3 to 11.99, and the club shuts for an hour at lunchtime. Both readings are printed here rather than reconciled, because the operator publishes both.
North Ari Atoll, 20 minutes by seaplane or 60 by speedboat
Veligandu Maldives Resort Island
€€€€In North Ari Atoll, 20 minutes by seaplane, with a two-bedroom villa for six and no kids club of any kind.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Ocean Pool Villa Two-Bedroom, accommodating up to six and welcoming guests of all ages
- Kids club
- Kids club: None published · Not applicable · Not applicable
- Right for
- A family of six who want a short seaplane and do not need childcare.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: A family with young children expecting a club.
- The catch
- The catch: There is no kids club at all, and the larger of its two family villas is published as 12 and over, so this reads as a couples island that happens to have family-sized rooms rather than a family resort.
North Male Atoll, by speedboat
Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives
€€€In North Male Atoll on a speedboat, with a summer offer for two children staying and dining free and a plan that switches off from midnight to 8am.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Duplex Garden Bungalow, published as up to two adults and two children, 55 square metres
- Right for
- A family of four on a speedboat island who sleep through the night.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: A jet-lagged family whose children wake at 6am.
- The catch
- The catch: The all-inclusive plan switches off at midnight and does not switch on again until 8am, so anything a jet-lagged child wants at six in the morning is billed on consumption. No kids club is published at all, and the children-free offer carries no age band.
Vaavu Atoll, by speedboat or seaplane
Cinnamon Velifushi Maldives
€€€In Vaavu Atoll, where the plan document's own validity window, read literally, excludes the hours at which the resort serves breakfast.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Water Bungalow, published as four adults, 100 square metres
- Right for
- A family of four who will confirm the plan hours in writing first.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone taking the plan document literally.
- The catch
- The catch: Every room but one is priced in adults, and the plan's own validity window as written excludes the hours breakfast is served, which no listing anywhere flags. Both readings, the stated window and the stated breakfast time, are recorded here rather than reconciled, because the operator publishes both in the same document.
North Ari Atoll, by speedboat
Ellaidhoo Maldives by Cinnamon
€€€In North Ari Atoll, running a children-stay-and-dine-free summer offer while both of its board-plan documents state the package applies only to adults.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Superior Room, published as four adults, 52 square metres
- Right for
- Nobody, until the operator reconciles its own two statements.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: A family relying on the summer offer without confirming it in writing.
- The catch
- The catch: The resort runs a kids-stay-and-dine-free summer offer while both of its board-plan documents carry the line that the package is only applicable for adults, and it has published no explanation of how the two fit together. Both readings are on this page because both are the operator's own.
Meemu Atoll, by seaplane or domestic flight
Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa Maldives
€€€In Meemu Atoll, and the weakest fit for a family in this set: no room type publishes a child occupancy and the offers are pitched at couples.
- Room to book
- Book this room: None for a family. Every published room type is up to three adults
- Right for
- Two adults on a budget seaplane island.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: A family, on the published evidence.
- The catch
- The catch: It is the weakest fit for a family here: no room type publishes a child occupancy, the offers are pitched at couples, and both board plans exclude non-motorised watersports outright. It also publishes two different start times for its own plan, at 7am and 7:30am, in the same material.
Where not to book in the Maldives
Four traps. The first is the free transfer offer, which reads as a family benefit and is written per person: one person at four nights and two at seven at Siyam World, two guests at seven nights at Iru Fushi, and neither says whether a child counts as one of those people, so a family of four never gets four seats. The second is the plan clock, because four of these plans switch off overnight and one, read literally, is not valid during its own breakfast service. The third is the restaurant allocation at Kuredu, where your board plan depends on your room category and the three cheapest categories are barred from one restaurant outright. The fourth is Ellaidhoo, which sells a children-stay-and-dine-free summer offer while both of its plan documents say the package is only applicable for adults. Ask which is true before booking, in writing.
When to book
Book the transfer conversation before the room. Zero of these twelve publish a child transfer price and only three publish any transfer benefit at all, so the total cannot be worked out from any website and has to be quoted by email. Time the flights around the seaplane rather than the other way round: Kuredu publishes that seaplanes operate 6am to 6pm only, and Emerald publishes same-day arrival cut-offs for international flights landing by 15:30 Male time, so a late arrival means an unplanned airport-island night. If the children are the reason for the trip, the length-of-stay thresholds matter more than the season: four and seven nights are where the transfer offers begin, and seven is where the more generous one sits.
