What is the cheapest time to visit Portugal?

The cheapest months are November to March, outside the Christmas-New-Year weeks, when flights and hotels drop and Lisbon and Porto are quiet - mild but often wet. For warmer weather at better-than-summer prices, the shoulder months of March-May and October are ideal: sunny days, low crowds and shoulder-season rates, especially away from the Algarve's peak.

What months should you avoid in Portugal?

There's no bad time, but July and August are the ones to weigh up if crowds and cost matter: the Algarve is at its busiest and most expensive, and popular beaches and restaurants get packed. Lisbon and Porto stay comfortable thanks to Atlantic breezes, so if you're city-focused, summer is fine. For beaches without the crush, come in June or September instead.
