Which cruise terminal does Singapore use?

Both of them, which is the thing to establish before you book anything. Marina Bay Cruise Centre is the newer, larger terminal and generally handles the big international ships; it is reached from Marina South Pier station at the southern end of the North South line, a measured 606 metres and about eight minutes from the terminal on our routing. Singapore Cruise Centre is inside the HarbourFront complex beside VivoCity, on the North East and Circle lines, and generally handles regional itineraries and smaller vessels. They are roughly eight kilometres apart. Terminal assignments can change with the itinerary and the ship, so confirm on your final cruise documents rather than trusting any guide.

Is Marina Bay Sands near the Marina Bay Cruise Centre?

No, and the shared name is the single most common Singapore cruise booking error. Our pedestrian routing puts Marina Bay Sands 2,847 metres and about 38 minutes on foot from Marina Bay Cruise Centre. They sit on opposite parts of a large bay with reclaimed land and expressways between them. Staying at Marina Bay Sands before a cruise is a lovely thing to do and it involves a taxi on sailing morning, not a walk. If you want to walk to your ship, the only address in Singapore that genuinely delivers that is HarbourFront, and only if you are sailing from Singapore Cruise Centre.

Where should I stay if I do not know which terminal yet?

Chinatown or Outram Park. That pocket puts four of the six MRT lines within one walkable area: Chinatown station serves the North East and Downtown lines, and Outram Park next door adds the East West and Thomson-East Coast lines. The North East line runs directly to HarbourFront for Singapore Cruise Centre, and the North South line for Marina South Pier is one straightforward change away. It is also mid-priced and has the best cheap food of any of the options here, so it is a good base for the days before the cruise as well as the morning of it.

How do I get from Changi Airport to the cruise terminals?

By MRT with one change, in both cases. Changi Airport station is served by a branch rather than a through service, so you ride to Tanah Merah and transfer to the East West line towards Tuas Link, or to Expo and pick up the Downtown line. For HarbourFront and Singapore Cruise Centre, continue to Outram Park and change to the North East line. For Marina South Pier and Marina Bay Cruise Centre, change onto the North South line and ride to the terminus. First train from Changi towards Tanah Merah is 05:31 on weekdays and 05:59 at weekends and public holidays, and the last inbound train from Tanah Merah to the airport leaves at 23:50 daily.

Can you walk to the cruise terminal in Singapore?

At HarbourFront yes, at Marina Bay effectively no. Singapore Cruise Centre is inside the HarbourFront complex, and our routing puts HarbourFront station 504 metres and about seven minutes from VivoCity beside it, so from a HarbourFront hotel you are walking with your luggage under cover for most of it. Marina Bay Cruise Centre is a measured 606 metres and about eight minutes from Marina South Pier station, which is walkable in itself, but there is no hotel stock at Marina South Pier, so in practice everyone arrives there by train or taxi. One transparency note: the direct pedestrian route from HarbourFront station to the cruise centre building routed across water in our tool, which means the footpath network there is not cleanly mapped, so we have given the VivoCity figure rather than publish a number we cannot stand behind.

How early should I get to the Singapore cruise terminal?

Work from your own cruise line's rule rather than a port-wide one, because neither terminal publishes a universal arrival time and the lines differ. As a general shape, most lines want you fully checked in well before the published sailing time and many assign a boarding window in advance. Build your journey backwards from that: from a HarbourFront hotel to Singapore Cruise Centre is a short covered walk, while from a central hotel to Marina Bay Cruise Centre is an MRT ride to the end of the North South line plus eight minutes on foot, or a taxi. Add a margin for the Grand Prix weekend in September, when central road closures make every cross-city journey longer than it looks.

Check your ticket first, because the two terminals are eight kilometres apart. Large international ships generally use Marina Bay Cruise Centre, reached from Marina South Pier on the North South line. Marina Bay Cruise Centre sits on Marina South Pier on the North South line: our routing gives 606 metres and about eight minutes from the Marina South Pier station entrance to the terminal, which corroborates the 600 metres commonly published. Singapore Cruise Centre is inside the HarbourFront complex on the North East and Circle lines, beside VivoCity, and our routing puts HarbourFront station 504 metres and about seven minutes from VivoCity's entrance. One route we deliberately do not publish: the direct line from HarbourFront station to the cruise centre building routed across water in our tool, which means the pedestrian network there is not cleanly mapped, so we are giving you the VivoCity measurement instead of a number we cannot stand behind.

Getting on and off the island costs money and has hours: the Sentosa Express monorail charges a SGD 4 standard entry fee, runs 07:00 to midnight only, and is excluded from the Singapore Tourist Pass, and our routing puts Resorts World a measured 42 minutes on foot from HarbourFront station.
The catch
The catch: Part of the free Sentosa Boardwalk has been closed since 22 May 2025 for waterfront construction and is not expected to reopen until 2030, with pedestrians routed via a covered linkway instead, so the walk-on option is compromised as well as long.

Singapore Cruise Centre sits inside the HarbourFront complex beside VivoCity, on the North East and Circle lines, and handles regional itineraries and smaller vessels. They are about eight kilometres apart with no direct connection between them. The specific trap is the name: Marina Bay Sands is not at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre, and our routing puts the two 2,847 metres and about 38 minutes apart on foot. A second thing worth knowing is that terminal assignments are not permanent; they can change with the itinerary and the ship, so the only reliable source is your own final cruise documents rather than any guide, including this one. And if you are looking at Sentosa for the night before, remember it is a separate island with its own access rules: the Sentosa Express monorail costs SGD 4 standard entry, runs only 07:00 to midnight, and is excluded from the Singapore Tourist Pass.

When to book

Two calendars matter here and they are unrelated to each other. The first is Singapore's events calendar, which is what actually moves hotel prices: the Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend in September reprices the entire island, and the big conventions at Marina Bay and Suntec do the same thing on a smaller scale. Official statistics put the average room rate across all gazetted hotels at SGD 265.10 in May 2026, with the monthly average over the preceding year peaking at SGD 311.10 in October 2025 and bottoming at SGD 253.90 in June 2025. The second is the sailing schedule, which concentrates demand at HarbourFront and Marina South on particular days, so the night before a large departure is dearer than the night after. Book as soon as your cruise is confirmed if the two calendars collide, and check your sailing date against the Grand Prix weekend before assuming a quoted rate is a mistake.
