In Brief
Which boutique hotel in Menorca should I book?
Hotel Rural Biniarroca, in the €€ band, is the best all-round boutique base: 18 rooms, two pools, breakfast always in the rate, its own car park and an adults-leaning age rule. Hotel Hevresac in Mahon is the value pick, with eight rooms, breakfast included and an all-year opening. For strictly over-16s, book Morvedra Nou.
Key takeaways
- Minimum ages: 12 at Ses Bruixes, over 16 at Morvedra Nou, and 14 or 16 at Biniarroca depending on the page

What the bands mean
None of these hotels publishes a fixed nightly rate, and no live rate check was run, so the bands are relative tiers built from what each operator publishes: its class and what is in the rate. Breakfast is the line that moves the bill. Five publish it as included: Hevresac, El Consul Mao, Ses Sucreres, Biniarroca and Faustino Gran. Sagitario Petit Ciutadella is room only, and Binigaus Vell includes it only in a promotional package. Then there is the Balearic sustainable tourism tax, read off the government agency's own calculator on 3 October 2026. From 1 May to 31 October it is 2 euro a person a night at rural hotels, agroturismos and interior-tourism town houses, 3 euro at four-star hotels and 4 euro at five-star hotels, plus 10 percent VAT. From November to April it is 0.50, 0.75 and 1 euro. Guests under 16 pay nothing, and the tax halves from the ninth day in the same hotel. Hevresac, El Consul Mao, Ses Bruixes and Biniarroca all publish 2.20 euro, which is the 2 euro rate with VAT added.

The 12 hotels, and who each one is wrong for
Walking times are to the nearest town or village centre. Walking times run to the nearest town or village centre, because in Menorca that is where dinner is: Placa de la Constitucio in Mahon, Placa des Born in Ciutadella, the church square in Ferreries and the centre of Es Migjorn Gran. Where a hotel publishes its own distance, that comes first. Otherwise the route is OpenStreetMap foot routing, with minutes worked out at 1.25 metres a second, and it is labelled as a road route rather than the hotel's figure. Five hotels are not mapped as buildings, so their street was used, which can be out by a few doors. Biniarroca publishes no distance and is not mapped at all, so it has no figure.

Sant Lluis outskirts
Hotel Rural Biniarroca
€€Rated 4.8 out of 5 on Google Maps from 239 reviews, as of October 2026Best all-roundAn 18-room rural hotel in a Menorcan country house on the edge of Sant Lluis, open since 1998, with two pools, one with a bar, a lounge-library and a 40-seat restaurant. Breakfast is always in the rate, it has its own car park, and small dogs and cats are accepted.
- Walk to the nearest town or village centre
- No figure: the hotel says it is on the outskirts of Sant Lluis and publishes no distance to the nearest town or village centre
- Right for
- Couples who want a pool and breakfast included at a quiet country house rather than a resort.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Families with children under 14, or under 16, depending on which of the hotel's own pages you read.
- The catch
- The catch: The hotel publishes two different minimum ages: over 14 in its FAQ and at least 16 on its adults-only page, with exceptions on request in both. Classic rooms have no terrace, no room sizes are published, and the room is only guaranteed ready at 16:00.

Mahon old town
Hotel Hevresac
€€Rated 4.9 out of 5 on Google Maps from 243 reviews, as of October 2026Best valueEight rooms in a historic Mahon town house on the corner of Anuncivay and San Fernando, open all year, with breakfast and VAT in the published price. There is no pool and, by design, no TV anywhere, but there is a lift, a guest kitchen and a ground-floor room adapted for reduced mobility.
- Walk to the nearest town or village centre
- 4 minutes (316 m) to Placa de la Constitucio and 6 minutes (429 m) to the Moll de Llevant harbour front, road route, not operator figure to the nearest town or village centre

- Anyone arriving without a car who wants to walk to Mahon's restaurants, in any month of the year.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone who wants to swim at the hotel: there is no pool.
- The catch

Mahon old town
El Consul Mao
€€Rated 5.0 out of 5 on Google Maps from 155 reviews, as of October 2026Six rooms in Mahon's former French consulate, renovated and finished in June 2022, a few metres from the Teatre Principal and close to the fish market. Breakfast and VAT are in the price, and the patio is bordered by the 16th-century town wall.
- Walk to the nearest town or village centre
- 3 minutes (204 m) to Placa de la Constitucio, road route from the street, not operator figure to the nearest town or village centre
- Right for
- Couples who want the smallest hotel on this page, with breakfast included and dinner a three-minute walk away.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone whose summer dates might move: from 1 June to 12 September, cancelling within 16 days costs the whole stay.
- The catch
- The catch: There is no lift, and rooms run from 17.5 to 23.2 square metres. Outside high season, cancelling within eight days still costs 100 percent. The street is closed to traffic except for residents at certain times, and the nearest car park, Es Freginal, is closed on Saturday evenings.

Mahon old town
Bordoy Casa Ladico
€€€Rated 4.7 out of 5 on Google Maps from 191 reviews, as of October 2026A 14-room adults-only town house of local mares stone in Mahon, named after a Greek merchant family who arrived in 1753, with an outdoor pool and terrace, a spa suite and breakfast in Cafe Ladico. It is the only Mahon town house on this page with a pool.
- Walk to the nearest town or village centre
- 4 minutes (305 m) to Placa de la Constitucio, road route from the street, not operator figure to the nearest town or village centre
- Right for
- Couples who want an adults-only hotel and a pool without leaving Mahon's old town.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Families: it sells itself as adults only, though the group does not publish the minimum age.
- The catch
- The catch: The spa is charged and limited to over-16s, and parking is off site and charged. The entry Superior Double rooms are on the top floor under sloped ceilings and start at 18 square metres.

Ciutadella old town
Faustino Gran
€€€€Rated 4.2 out of 5 on Google Maps from 564 reviews, as of October 2026The five-star exception on this page: a Relais and Chateaux member made up of historic houses in Ciutadella's old town, with a courtyard pool looking at the cathedral and a spa in an old cave vault with an indoor stone pool. Breakfast is in the rate.
- Walk to the nearest town or village centre
- 4 minutes (268 m) to Placa des Born, road route from Carrer de Sant Sebastia, not operator figure to the nearest town or village centre
- Right for
- Anyone who wants five-star service, a pool and a spa inside Ciutadella's old town.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone looking for a genuinely small hotel: it publishes no total, but three of its five houses alone hold at least 56 rooms.
- The catch
- The catch: It is not one building. Guests stay in one of several houses, the site gives four different street addresses, its rooms page mentions three palaces and its palaces page lists five. Double rooms start at 19 square metres, and no parking is published.

Ciutadella old town
SetBlaus Boutique Hotel

- Right for
- Couples who want an adults-only room in the middle of Ciutadella and plan to eat out.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone who wants a pool or breakfast at the hotel: the site mentions neither.

Ciutadella old town
Sagitario Petit Ciutadella
€Rated 4.6 out of 5 on Google Maps from 50 reviews, as of October 2026Six rooms in a converted townhouse in Ciutadella's old town, open almost all year. It is room only and has no reception of its own: guest services run from the group's Sagitario Hostal Ciutadella, a few minutes' walk away.
- Walk to the nearest town or village centre
- 6 minutes (469 m) to Placa des Born, road route from the street, not operator figure to the nearest town or village centre
- Right for
- Travellers on a budget who want the old town on foot and are happy to have breakfast out.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone who wants hotel services on site: there is no reception, no pool and no breakfast in the house.
- The catch
- The catch: The same page says the house is room only and then advertises a buffet breakfast at the group's cafe-bar next door, with no price. Its published room type takes two adults at most with a 150 by 190 cm bed, and it closes for some weeks between Christmas and New Year.

Ciutadella countryside
Morvedra Nou

- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone under 16, and anyone whose plans might change: the group charges the full stay for cancellations inside 15 days.
- The catch
- The catch: Booking takes a 50 percent deposit, half the stay is charged for cancellations 15 to 30 days out and all of it inside 15 days. Whether breakfast is in the rate is not published, and pets cost 35 euro a night.

Ferreries village
Ses Sucreres
€€Rated 4.9 out of 5 on Google Maps from 162 reviews, as of October 2026A 12-room village hotel in Ferreries, in the middle of the island, that opened in 2009 in the former village grocery where children bought their sweets, a building from 1844, and doubled in size in 2022 to 2023 with a garden and a small pool. - Anyone touring both ends of the island who wants a central base with breakfast included.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone who cannot manage stairs: neither building has a lift.
- The catch

Es Migjorn Gran countryside
Binigaus Vell
€€€Rated 4.7 out of 5 on Google Maps from 213 reviews, as of October 2026A 27-room rural hotel on an 89-hectare former dairy farm outside Es Migjorn Gran, with an outdoor pool, seven Junior Suite de Luxe rooms with private pools and its own Menorcan horse stud. Reception runs from 8:00 to midnight and parking is free.

Alaior countryside, Cala en Porter road
Torralbenc
€€€€Rated 4.5 out of 5 on Google Maps from 396 reviews, as of October 2026A five-star agroturismo with its own winery on a restored farm estate on the Mahon to Cala'n Porter road, with 14 hectares of vines, a salt-water pool and a cottage category with a private pool. Its homepage says it was awarded a Michelin Key in 2025.

- Right for
- Couples who want vineyard views, a salt-water pool and a car for the coves.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone travelling from November to March, when it is closed.
- The catch
- The catch: It closes from November to March, a fact published on its Small Luxury Hotels brand page rather than its own site. Its own site gives the estate as 74 hectares on the homepage and 77 on the estate page, and it publishes no room count: the 27 comes from the brand page.
Where not to book in Menorca
No town on this list needs avoiding, so the traps are in the small print. The first is a countryside estate without a car: Morvedra Nou is 7.7 km from Placa des Born by road route and Torralbenc is 44 minutes on foot from Cala en Porter. The second is the age rule. Check it on the page that will be enforced, because Biniarroca gives two, and Casa Ladico and SetBlaus give none. The third is cancellation: El Consul Mao charges the whole stay inside 16 days between 1 June and 12 September, and Morvedra Nou's group terms charge it inside 15 days. The last is winter. Torralbenc is closed from November to March, and nine of the twelve publish no season at all, so ask before you book a winter break.
When to book
None of these hotels publishes how far ahead it fills, so book around room count instead. Several sell some room types as a single room: Hevresac has one Superior Double and one Duplex with Terrace, SetBlaus has one terrace suite, and Ses Bruixes has one Patio Suite and one Cozy room. If you want that room, book the room before the dates. The tourist tax changes on 1 November: until 30 April it falls to 0.50 euro a person a night at rural and interior-tourism hotels and 1 euro at five-star hotels, plus VAT. For a winter break, Hevresac publishes that it is open all year, while Torralbenc is closed from November to March.
