In Brief
Which Waikiki room actually takes a family of five?
Very few, and the ones that do are mostly in the buildings that will not tell you what the beds are. Twelve of fifteen operators publish a maximum occupancy and twelve publish a square footage, but only ten name a bed, and all five non-publishers are condominium, all-suite or budget properties, which is to say exactly the buildings selling the multi-bedroom units a family of five needs. Four is the published ceiling almost everywhere else. The clearest single warning sits on one operator page: two penthouse suites at the identical published size, with identical bedrooms, bathrooms and laundry, sold at six people and at four, where the only published difference between them is the view.
Key takeaways
- 34 instances of a bigger unit holding no more people
- 12 of 15 publish occupancy and size, only 10 publish beds
- 2 of 15 publish all three for every category they sell
- 9 of 15 publish no cot policy at all
Which rooms actually fit your family
Find your party shape along the top, then read down. A tick means the hotel publishes a room that holds that group in one booking. A dash means the hotel does not publish the fact at all, which is not the same as a no, and is why the column exists.
| Hotel | 2+1 | 2+2 | 2+3 | 2 + baby | Connecting | Cot | Rollaway |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Twin Fin Hotel Waikiki | Yes | Yes | Yes | Not published | Yes | Not published. No crib or cot is named on the FAQ, the stay index or any individual room page | Mentioned on one room page and nowhere else, unpriced, on a triple-double category described as having room to add a rollaway |
| Ilikai Hotel and Luxury Suites | Yes | Yes | Not published | Yes | No | Free. The operator publishes a complimentary crib, based on availability | Available and charged with no price published, in the same sentence as the free crib |
| Prince Waikiki | Yes | Yes | Yes | Not published | No | Not published on the FAQ, the amenities list or the rooms page | Not published. The in-room amenity list begins with one king or two queen beds and names no rollaway, sofa bed or extra bed anywhere |
| Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach | Yes | Yes | No | Yes | No | Free. Cribs are complimentary on request and subject to availability, though the operator notes it may not apply to certain rate programmes | 100 dollars plus taxes per additional guest per night, capped at one per room where applicable, and the only rollaway amount published in Waikiki |
| Aston Waikiki Sunset | Yes | Yes | Yes | Not published | No | Available on request with no price published, and the operator does use a charge marker elsewhere in the same list | Available and charged, published as rollaway beds with a charge marker and no amount |
| Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort | Yes | Yes | Not published | Not published | No | Not published. No crib or cot is named on the FAQ, the reservation policies, the check-in policies or any tower page | Published as a conditional availability with no price and no list of which rooms qualify, the operator stating only that rollaway beds are not available for all room types |
| OUTRIGGER Reef Waikiki Beach Resort | Yes | Yes | Not published | Not published | No | Not published anywhere on the property pages or the FAQ | Not published, and no extra-person charge appears on any page reached |
| OUTRIGGER Waikiki Beach Resort | Not published | Not published | No | Not published | No | Not published. No crib, cot or Pack n Play is named on the FAQ, on any room page or in the amenity lists | Not published. No rollaway, extra bed or extra-person charge appears anywhere on the pages reached |
| OUTRIGGER Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel | Yes | Yes | Not published | Not published | No | Not published on the FAQ or on any of the eleven category pages | Not published on any page reached, which matters more here than elsewhere because three categories are sold at five people with four or fewer beds named |
| ESPACIO The Jewel of Waikiki | Yes | Yes | Yes | Not published | No | Not published on the stay pages, the suite pages or the inclusions list | Not published, and the six-person ceiling is stated three ways, so a seventh person appears to have no published route into a suite at all |
| Aston at the Waikiki Banyan | Yes | Yes | No | Not published | No | Available on request with no price published, and without the charge marker the operator uses elsewhere | Available and charged with no amount, which matters here more than anywhere because the whole property is capped at four guests per suite |
| Aqua Palms Waikiki | Yes | Yes | No | Not published | No | Available on request with no price published | Not published at all, which is the divergence that matters inside one management company, because both its sister properties here publish a charged rollaway in the same amenity list |
| Waikiki Resort Hotel by Sono | Not published | Not published | Not published | Not published | No | Not published on the FAQ, the amenities page or any of the seven room pages | Not published, and the operator's occupancy rule effectively rules it out by capping a suite at six utilising existing bedding |
| Ala Moana Hotel by Mantra | Not published | Not published | Not published | Not published | Not published | Not published. The FAQ is three questions long and answers parking, activities and breakfast | Not published |
| OUTRIGGER Waikiki Paradise Hotel | Not published | Not published | No | Not published | No | Not published on the FAQ or on any of the eight category pages | Not published |
Waikiki publishes the floor and hides the bed, and it is the first market in this research where the bed column is the thinnest rather than the occupancy or the size. Twelve of fifteen operators publish a maximum occupancy and twelve publish a square footage, and only ten name a bed. That places Waikiki second of five markets overall, ahead of Fort Lauderdale and Barbados but behind Maui, with two properties publishing all three fields for every category they sell against Maui's five and Fort Lauderdale's none. The distribution is what matters: all five operators that publish no bed line are condominium, all-suite or budget properties, which is to say precisely the buildings selling the multi-bedroom units a family of five needs. Because the size is published so widely, thirty-four instances can be shown across nine properties in which the bigger unit holds no more people, which is more than any market measured, ahead of Maui's twenty and Barbados's six. The single clearest sits on one page with nothing left to explain it away: two penthouse suites published at the identical average size, with identical bedrooms, bathrooms and in-suite laundry, sold at six people and at four, where the only published difference is the view. The same operator sells a 590 square foot two-bedroom at six, so its 1,209 square foot penthouse holds two fewer people than a unit less than half its size. Two absences hold across the whole district. Nine of fifteen publish no cot policy at all, two publish one and both are free, and exactly one property publishes a rollaway amount. And the deliberate hunt for a fire-code or building-code refusal found none, even in a district of high-rise towers, the two conditional refusals citing inventory rather than code.
These are family facts, and family facts go stale. This table is set for re-verification in March 2027.
Which one fits how your family travels
Find the row that sounds like your trip. Every pick below names the family it is wrong for, so you can book on fit rather than on rank.
| If you are | Book | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Five or more people | The Twin Fin Hotel | It sells the only connecting products in Waikiki as single bookable items, a two-room connection at up to seven guests and a three-room connection at 1,018 square feet and up to ten, and it is the only property publishing all three fields for every category it sells. |
| Six people wanting a kitchen | Aston Waikiki Sunset, in a 590 square foot two-bedroom | It takes six people for less than half the floor area of the same operator's penthouses, which take four. Confirm the beds by telephone, because none of its thirteen categories names one. |
| Travelling with a baby | Alohilani or the Ilikai | These are the only two Waikiki hotels publishing a cot position and both publish it as free. Nine of fifteen publish nothing on cots at all. |
| Wanting a bed line you can rely on | Prince Waikiki | It is the only operator here that ties the headcount to the bed in writing, publishing its two-bedroom oceanfront suite at a maximum of six with a king and two queens. It is on the harbour rather than a beach. |
| Four people on the tightest budget | Aston at the Waikiki Banyan or Aqua Palms | Both publish the lowest mandatory fee in Waikiki and both sell one-bedroom suites at four with a kitchen. Neither names a bed, and neither has any product above four people. |

What the bands mean
Every Waikiki hotel charges something on top of the rate and the disclosure varies more than the amount. Where a figure is published it runs from 40 dollars plus tax to 50 plus tax at the branded resorts, with an amenity fee of 45 plus tax at one all-suite property and the lowest in the district at the three Aqua-Aston condominium buildings. Four properties charge a mandatory daily fee and publish no amount anywhere, including the largest hotel in the state, which answers its own question about whether it charges one with the word yes. Exactly one property publishes the absence of a fee as a positive statement. Parking sits on top of all of it and is not covered here, because it belongs to the sibling resorts page, but it is the larger number at every property that prints both. On tax, three separate government rates apply and no government body publishes a combined figure, so none appears here: state transient accommodations tax at 11.00 per cent since 1 January 2026 under Act 96, a Honolulu county surcharge of 3 per cent under Ordinance 21-33, and general excise tax with a 0.5 per cent county surcharge at a maximum pass-on of 4.7120 per cent.

Every location on this page is the part of Waikiki the operator names in its own words, and every distance to the sand is the operator's own figure in its own unit. Nothing is computed. Occupancy, size and bed configuration are quoted only where an operator prints them, and where a hotel prints two of the three and not the third, that is stated rather than filled in.
Diamond Head end, Kalakaua Avenue
The Twin Fin Hotel Waikiki
€€Best for fourThe only Waikiki hotel publishing all three fields for every category it sells, and the only one selling connecting rooms as a product.
- Room to book
- Book this room: The two-room connection at up to seven guests, or the three-room connection at 1,018 square feet and up to ten
- Children stay free
- Not published. The booking widget separates adults and children with no age boundary given
- Breakfast for children

- Walk to The part of Waikiki the operator names, and its own published distance to the sand
- The Diamond Head end of Kalakaua Avenue opposite Kuhio Beach, and it is the only operator here publishing a distance to the sand in feet, hedged on the tide to The part of Waikiki the operator names, and its own published distance to the sand
- Right for
- A family of five or more, who have almost no other published option in Waikiki.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone who needs a cot price before booking.
- The catch
- The catch: The rooms are genuinely small even by Waikiki standards, 264 to 324 square feet for a four-person headcount, so the way a family of five actually fits is by buying two or three connecting rooms. The operator sells that honestly and it is still two or three room rates. It also publishes a daily resort amenity fee with no amount attached.
Ala Moana Boulevard, western edge
Ilikai Hotel and Luxury Suites
€€€Rated 4.3 out of 5 on Google Maps from 3,790 reviews, as of October 2026One of only two properties publishing occupancy, size and beds for every category, with every bed line supporting its headcount.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Any suite, since all nine categories publish all three fields and the beds add up
- Children stay free
- Not published as a room-rate policy. Two child ages are published and both belong to included attraction admissions rather than to the room
- Breakfast for children
- Not published
- Walk to The part of Waikiki the operator names, and its own published distance to the sand
- The far western edge of Waikiki on Ala Moana Boulevard, and the operator publishes no distance or walking time to Waikiki Beach at all, suggesting the city bus instead to The part of Waikiki the operator names, and its own published distance to the sand
- Right for
- A family who want every number published and a kitchen.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone needing an accessible room, or a short walk to Waikiki Beach.
- The catch
- The catch: There is no easy route to Waikiki Beach and the operator will not say how far it is, its own FAQ pointing at the bus. It refuses connecting rooms in the clearest wording in this research, its suites are individually owned, and it publishes that there are no accessible rooms at all.
Ala Moana Boulevard, at the harbour
Prince Waikiki
€€€The only operator in Waikiki that ties the headcount to the bed in writing, and it publishes no distance to any beach.
- Room to book
- Book this room: The Oceanfront Suite with two bedrooms and two baths, published at a maximum occupancy of six with a king and two queens
- Children stay free
- Not published. The booking widget has an adults and a children field with no age boundary stated
- Breakfast for children
- Children 5 and under eat free at the hotel's own restaurant, all meal periods, with an accompanying adult

- The edge of Waikiki on the yacht harbour rather than a beach, and the operator publishes no beach distance anywhere across five pages to The part of Waikiki the operator names, and its own published distance to the sand
- Right for
- A family of six who want a published bed line they can rely on.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone who wants to walk children back from the sand for a nap.
- The catch
- The catch: It is a harbour hotel rather than a beach hotel and never claims otherwise, so a family walking back from the sand is walking further than the operator will say, because it publishes no beach distance at all. Its resort charge exists and no amount is published for it.
Diamond Head end, opposite Kuhio Beach
Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach
€€€Publishes the clearest children-stay-free statement in Waikiki, and the only rollaway price in the district.
- Room to book
- Book this room: A room with two beds, since the operator's global cap is four in those and three in a king room
- Children stay free
- Children 17 years and under stay free with an accompanying adult using existing bedding, which is the clearest statement of either age in the district
- Breakfast for children
- Not published
- Walk to The part of Waikiki the operator names, and its own published distance to the sand
- The Diamond Head end of Kalakaua Avenue, and the operator says directly across from Kuhio Beach rather than on it to The part of Waikiki the operator names, and its own published distance to the sand
- Right for
- A family of four in a two-bed room who want a free cot and a published age rule.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: A family of four who get given a king room.
- The catch
- The catch: Every standard room in the building is 330 square feet, the smallest standard footprint of any full-service resort here, and the operator's own cap means a king room takes three people rather than four. A family of four that draws a king is over the published limit before it arrives, and occupancy is published as one global rule rather than per category.
Paoakalani Avenue, Diamond Head end
Aston Waikiki Sunset
€€Best valuePublishes two identical penthouses at six people and four, and a 590 square foot two-bedroom that takes six.
- Room to book
- Book this room: A 590 square foot two-bedroom at six people, rather than either penthouse
- Children stay free
- No room-rate age is published. What is published is a no-extra-charge rule tied to headcount rather than to age
- Breakfast for children
- Not published
- Walk to The part of Waikiki the operator names, and its own published distance to the sand
- The Diamond Head end, inland on Paoakalani Avenue, and the operator publishes three different distances to the beach on the same property page to The part of Waikiki the operator names, and its own published distance to the sand
- Right for
- A family of six who want a kitchen and the lowest fee in Waikiki.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone upgrading to a penthouse expecting more beds.
- The catch
- The catch: Not one of its thirteen suite types names a bed, so a family of six booking a 590 square foot two-bedroom with one bathroom is buying a headcount and a floor plan and nothing else. Its own penthouse pair proves the headcount is not derived from the space: two suites at the identical published size, identical bedrooms, bathrooms and laundry, sold at six people and at four, with the view as the only published difference.
Kalia Road, Ala Moana end
Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort
€€€€Publishes a bed for every room and a size for none, and sells the strongest single family product in Waikiki.
- Room to book
- Book this room: A Tapa Collection Family Room, which is the strongest single-product answer in the district
- Children stay free
- Not published on any page reached
- Breakfast for children

- The western Ala Moana end of Waikiki on Kalia Road, with the operator publishing about 20 minutes from the airport to The part of Waikiki the operator names, and its own published distance to the sand
- Right for
- A family who want the biggest resort in the state and a published bed line.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone judging whether three beds will fit in the room.
- The catch
- The catch: It publishes a bed for every room and a size for none, so a family cannot tell how much floor there is around those beds. Its resort charge is never given a figure on the operator's own site, and its rollaway is conditional, unpriced, and comes with no list of which of its twenty categories qualify.
Kalia Road, western Waikiki
OUTRIGGER Reef Waikiki Beach Resort
€€€Rated 4.5 out of 5 on Google Maps from 5,563 reviews, as of October 2026Publishes all three fields for thirteen of twenty-one categories, and sells its largest standard room to the smallest party.

- Right for
- A family of four who want a published size and bed on most categories.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone assuming the biggest standard room takes the most people.
- The catch
- The catch: The largest standard room is sold to the smallest party: a 450 square foot Standard is capped at three people while every 340 square foot Ocean View is sold at four. Where all three fields are present the answer is usually yes but only if you get the two-queen version, because the operator sells several categories with two possible bed sets.
Kalakaua Avenue, central Waikiki
OUTRIGGER Waikiki Beach Resort
€€€Rated 4.5 out of 5 on Google Maps from 7,894 reviews, as of October 2026Publishes a size and a headcount for all eighteen categories and a bed for four, and those four contradict the headcount beside them.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Not a top-category room, since the two largest standard rooms are the two a family of four cannot book
- Children stay free
- Not published anywhere on the operator's own pages
- Breakfast for children

- Right for
- A couple with one child who want to be on the sand.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: A family of four who wanted the ocean view.
- The catch
- The catch: The two rooms with the best views are the two a family of four cannot book: Oceanfront and Club Oceanfront, the largest standard rooms in the building at 421 square feet, are both published as sleeping up to two. Where the operator does print a bed line at all, in four of eighteen categories, it contradicts the headcount printed beside it.
Kalakaua Avenue, central Waikiki
OUTRIGGER Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel

- Right for
- A family of five willing to telephone about the fifth bed.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone booking on the published numbers alone.
- The catch
- The catch: It is the one Waikiki hotel that sells a five-person headcount three times over and never once names five beds. A family booking its 532 square foot one-bedroom ocean view suite is told sleeps up to five and one king bed on the same line, and no rollaway policy is published anywhere to close the gap.
Kalakaua Avenue, beach end
ESPACIO The Jewel of Waikiki
€€€€Rated 4.6 out of 5 on Google Maps from 94 reviews, as of October 2026Full-floor suites with private lift access, six people as a hard ceiling everywhere, and a published floor area for one suite in nine.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Any suite, since every one publishes the same six-person ceiling and a bed line that supports it
- Children stay free
- Not published. No child age appears anywhere on the pages reached
- Breakfast for children
- Not published
- Walk to The part of Waikiki the operator names, and its own published distance to the sand
- Central Kalakaua Avenue at the beach end, published only as steps from Waikiki Beach with no distance or walking time to The part of Waikiki the operator names, and its own published distance to the sand
- Right for
- A family of six who want space and privacy and are not counting square feet.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: A family of seven, and anyone comparing the three-bedrooms on floor area.
- The catch
- The catch: Six people is the ceiling in every suite in the building, whether that suite has two bedrooms or three, and the operator publishes a floor area for exactly one of its nine suites, so a family cannot compare the three-bedrooms with each other at all. It is, however, the only property in Waikiki that publishes the absence of a resort fee as a positive statement.
Ohua Avenue, Diamond Head end
Aston at the Waikiki Banyan
€€Rated 3.9 out of 5 on Google Maps from 2,234 reviews, as of October 2026Nine one-bedroom suites at the same size and the same four people, with no two-bedroom product in the building at all.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Any of the nine, since they publish the same size and the same headcount and differ only by view
- Children stay free
- No age is published. What is published is a headcount rule, that the all-suite lodging accommodates up to four guests at no additional charge
- Breakfast for children
- Not published
- Walk to The part of Waikiki the operator names, and its own published distance to the sand
- The Diamond Head end, inland on Ohua Avenue behind Kuhio Beach, with three published distances to the beach on one page that do not agree to The part of Waikiki the operator names, and its own published distance to the sand
- Right for
- A family of four who want a kitchen at the Diamond Head end.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: A family of five, who must buy a second suite or an unpriced rollaway.
- The catch
- The catch: The published ceiling is four people in every one of its nine identical suites, with no two-bedroom option anywhere in the building, so a family of five is buying a second suite or an unpriced rollaway. And with no bed named in any category, a family cannot tell what those four people sleep on.
Ala Moana Boulevard, western end
Aqua Palms Waikiki
€€Sells every category at four people whether the room is 226 square feet or 793, so the headcount carries no information at all.
- Room to book
- Book this room: The one-bedroom suite, since it is the largest unit and carries the same four-person figure as the smallest
- Children stay free
- Not published. Two differing museum child ages appear in the amenity-fee inclusions and neither is a room rule

- Right for
- A family of four who want the lowest fee in Waikiki and a kitchen.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone using the occupancy figure to choose between categories.
- The catch
- The catch: Everything here is a range or a rule rather than a fact about your room: a size band 133 square feet wide, four guests in every category from 226 to 793 square feet, one bed line in six, no rollaway policy at all, and housekeeping only on every third day.
Koa Avenue, Diamond Head end
Waikiki Resort Hotel by Sono
€€Publishes the best child-meal terms in Waikiki and nothing at all about its rooms.
- Room to book
- Book this room: A suite, which the operator caps at six people utilising existing bedding
- Children stay free
- No room-rate age is published, but a meal age is, and it is the only published child age of its kind in this research
- Breakfast for children
- Published, and the best child-meal terms found in Waikiki

- One street back from Kalakaua at the Diamond Head end, and the operator publishes a one-minute walk to Waikiki Beach twice, consistently to The part of Waikiki the operator names, and its own published distance to the sand
- Right for
- A family who want to be a minute from the sand and will telephone about the room.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone comparing rooms on published data.
- The catch
- The catch: It publishes the best child-meal terms in the district and the least about its rooms: no size, no bed and no headcount on any of its seven category pages, a global bed type it will not guarantee, and one category it calls a room on one page and a suite on another. Connecting rooms exist as a request rather than a product, and the operator is explicit about the difference.
Atkinson Drive, outside Waikiki
Ala Moana Hotel by Mantra
€€Nine room names and nothing else, at an address whose own postcode is not Waikiki's.
- Room to book
- Book this room: Not establishable. None of the three fields is published for any of the nine categories
- Children stay free
- Not published. The booking widget is the only place children appear, and it is notable for having three age buckets where every other operator here has two
- Breakfast for children
- Not published
- Walk to The part of Waikiki the operator names, and its own published distance to the sand
- Not Waikiki. The operator's own address carries the 96814 postcode rather than Waikiki's 96815, and it publishes two different distances to the beach that do not agree to The part of Waikiki the operator names, and its own published distance to the sand
- Right for
- Nobody planning from published room data.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Any family that wants to know what a room holds.
- The catch
- The catch: It publishes less about its rooms than any other property in this research: nine room names and nothing else, with no size, no bed, no headcount, no cot policy, no rollaway and no child age. A family learns what the room is called and what the view is, and nothing about how many people fit or what they sleep on.
Kaiulani Avenue, inland Waikiki
OUTRIGGER Waikiki Paradise Hotel
€€The cheapest way into Waikiki here and the least knowable, with a headcount for all eight categories and a bed for none.
- Room to book
- Book this room: One of the two two-bedroom suites, published at four people, since neither names a bed
- Children stay free
- Not published
- Breakfast for children

- Inland Waikiki, a block back on Kaiulani Avenue, with the operator publishing a five-minute walk to the beach to The part of Waikiki the operator names, and its own published distance to the sand
- Right for
- A family of four watching every dollar who will ask about the beds.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone who needs to charge anything to the room.
- The catch
- The catch: Not one of its eight room types names a bed, so every headcount here is a permission with nothing behind it. The standard room is 234 square feet, and the operator answers its own question about whether things can be charged to the room with a plain no, which is worth knowing before arriving with children.
Where not to book in Waikiki
Three things. The first is upgrading for space and expecting a bed, which fails in Waikiki more often than anywhere this site has measured: thirty-four times an operator's own figures show more floor area buying no extra person, and at one property two identical penthouses are sold at six people and at four with the view as the only stated difference. Read the occupancy, then ask about the bed. The second is a headcount with nothing behind it. Five operators publish no bed line at all, and where one property does print a bed it contradicts the headcount beside it, selling five people against four or fewer named sleeping places three separate times. The third is the word beachfront and the walking times attached to it. Three properties here publish two or three different distances to the sand on their own pages, one has no beach at all because it sits on a yacht harbour, one publishes a distance in feet and hedges it on the tide, and one is not in Waikiki at all by its own postcode.
When to book
Book on the bed and treat the occupancy as a permission, because in Waikiki the two fields frequently disagree and the buildings most likely to hold a family of five are the ones publishing no bed at all. If you are five or more, start with the one hotel selling connecting rooms as a product, then look at the condominium buildings and telephone about the beds before paying. Do not assume a cot: nine of fifteen publish no policy, and only one property in the district publishes what an extra bed costs. And read the distance to the sand carefully rather than the adjective, since three operators publish conflicting figures on their own pages and the honest ones are the outliers, including one that tells guests plainly its own sand is not the sand they came for.
