What the bands mean
Rates are shown as bands, not numbers, because every hotel here except two sells through a live booking engine. The bands come from the starting price each hotel's Trip.com page showed on 3 October 2026, in US dollars: Home Sweet Home 96, Rondel Village 130, Charela Inn 165, Tensing Pen 207 and Idle Awhile 269. Nirvana on the Beach publishes its own rates, 196 to 208 dollars for two in summer and 301 to 320 in winter. Jackie's on the Reef publishes a per-person rate that includes breakfast, dinner and yoga, but only for dates up to 31 May 2026. Rockhouse, The Caves, Catcha Falling Star and Skylark showed no rate, so their bands are estimates from their format and should be checked. Then read the tax line, because it is not the same everywhere. The Caves, Idle Awhile and Rondel Village add 10 per cent government tax and a 10 per cent service charge, Nirvana adds 10 per cent GCT, and Home Sweet Home quotes 16.5 per cent sales tax and a 3.5 per cent service charge. On top sits the government room tax, which Tax Administration Jamaica sets at 1 US dollar a room a night for properties of up to 51 rooms and 2 dollars from 51 to 100 rooms. The Jamaica Information Service reports that GCT on tourism activities rises from 10 to 15 per cent on 1 April 2027.

The 11 hotels, and who each one is wrong for
Walking times are to Negril Roundabout, where the beach road meets the cliff road. Walking times are pedestrian routes from each hotel to Negril Roundabout, the junction in town where Norman Manley Boulevard, the beach road, meets West End Road, the cliff road. Cliff hotels also show the walk to Rick's Cafe. Routes come from OpenStreetMap foot routing at 4.5 km/h, not straight lines; hotel positions are from OpenStreetMap or the hotel's own map link, and one, Rondel Village, from the map code on its booking listing. Neither road has a continuous pavement, so treat the longer walks as a taxi ride.

Where not to book in Negril
Two things to think twice about. The first is the cliffs with small children or a weak swimmer. The West End hotels have no sand: Home Sweet Home's way in is steps and a ladder into deep water, Rockhouse closes its ladders when the sea is rough, and The Caves' Blue Hole suite opens onto a cave with the sea below. Rockhouse and Tensing Pen take no one under 12, so if your children are younger, the beach hotels are the answer. The second is distance. The cliff road and the beach road both run for miles without a continuous pavement, The Caves is a 73-minute walk from the roundabout, and Jackie's on the Reef is past the lighthouse, so a cliff hotel means a taxi or the hotel's shuttle to reach Seven Mile Beach.
When to book
Book winter early and read the minimum stay. Idle Awhile, Rondel Village and Nirvana all price December 15 to mid-April as high season, Nirvana needs seven nights through that whole period, Idle Awhile needs seven over Christmas and New Year, and Rondel wants 46 days' notice to cancel a holiday booking without a four-night penalty. Two dates change the sums in the other direction. Charela Inn closes every September, and the Jamaica Information Service reports that GCT on tourism activities rises from 10 to 15 per cent on 1 April 2027, so a stay that starts after that date carries a bigger tax line than one booked for the coming winter. Summer and early autumn are the quieter, cheaper months, and Tensing Pen cuts its rates by 20 to 30 per cent from mid-April to mid-November.
