What the bands mean
None of the audited hotels publishes static year-round list rates, using dynamic booking engines instead. All figures are given in Norwegian kroner (NOK) as published by the operators on 10 September 2026. Only three properties publish standing per-night prices on their room lists: Eliassen Rorbuer publishes NOK 2,190 to NOK 3,590 by unit type, while date-driven lists showed NOK 2,113 to NOK 5,115 at Thon Hotel Lofoten and NOK 2,095 to NOK 5,634 at Thon Hotel Svolvaer. Sauna access ranges widely across five properties that have one: NOK 125 per session for hotel guests at Trevarefabrikken, NOK 195 for a one-hour drop-in at Svinoya's floating sauna, and NOK 450 per person for two hours at Nyvagar's Lofotspa. Breakfast is included at three properties, costs NOK 275 at Nyvagar and NOK 300 at Svinoya, and disappears entirely in November, December and January at Reine Rorbuer.

Where not to book in the Lofoten Islands
Think twice about booking accommodations in Reine or Hamnoy if you are landing late at Harstad/Narvik Airport Evenes without winter driving experience. The drive is 285 km each way along the E10, which involves narrow bridges, icy coastal passes and limited lighting during the 30-day polar night. Additionally, avoid properties in Leknes or central Svolvaer if you expect immediate dark skies out of your bedroom window, as both settlements produce concentrated municipal light domes.
When to book
Book accommodations three to four months in advance for travel between December and February. Polar night runs from 7 December to 5 January at Svolvaer, bringing 18 hours 43 minutes of darkness on 15 December and high demand for waterfront cabins. Furthermore, check cancellation policies carefully before paying: Trevarefabrikken charges a 10 per cent fee inside three months and 90 per cent inside seven days, while Hattvika Lodge charges 100 per cent within 14 days and makes direct online bookings non-refundable.
