   The sheltered cove inside the national park is the country's best single beach: calm, clear water in a forested horseshoe with sloths, capuchins and iguanas in the trees directly behind the sand. Entry is capped and tickets must be bought online ahead (the park is closed Tuesdays); the free beach outside the gate, Espadilla Norte, is bigger but carries genuine rip currents.

There's no town on the beach and vehicle access is restricted, so most people walk in 15–20 minutes along the sand from Brasilito and carry everything they need.
