Kid Friendly Hotels in London, Checked Room by Room and Station by Station

Twelve kid-friendly hotels in London were checked against their own websites in October 2026, and only three of them publish four real beds for a family of four. Six put the children on a sofa bed, and only two publish a one-booking fit for two adults and three children. The finding that matters most with a pushchair is about the Tube rather than the room: according to TfL's own station data, the five hotels in Kensington, South Kensington, Marylebone and the West End all sit nearest a station with no step-free route from street to platform, while the South Bank and Tower hotels sit near stations with lifts.

In Brief

Which London hotels are actually kid friendly?

Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London, in the £££ band, is the strongest all-round answer: its Studios are published for two adults and two children with a kitchenette, its suites take five, under-12s eat breakfast free and there is a 15 metre pool. For value, Premier Inn London County Hall lets two under-16s stay and eat breakfast free.

Key takeaways

  • Only three of twelve publish four real beds for a family of four; six put the children on a sofa bed
  • Two publish a one-booking fit for two adults and three children: The Langham, London and Cheval Three Quays
  • The five hotels in Kensington, South Kensington, Marylebone and the West End all sit nearest a station with no step-free route
  • London has no tourist tax yet, and up to four under-11s ride the Tube free with each paying adult

Which rooms actually fit your family

Find your party shape along the top, then read down. A tick means the hotel publishes a room that holds that group in one booking. A dash means the hotel does not publish the fact at all, which is not the same as a no, and is why the column exists.

Every tick and figure comes from the hotel's own website or its brand's, checked on 3 October 2026. Two operators block automated access, so Citadines South Kensington London and the Staycity Greenwich aparthotel were read through a reader proxy of their own pages, and Park Plaza's brand booking site could not be read at all, which is why its cot row is blank. A dash means the operator publishes nothing, which is not the same as a no. The connecting column is strict. Strand Palace mentions rooms with inter-connecting doors only in a security note and never offers them to families, so it stays unverified, and Park Plaza's yes comes from a family offer page on its own site that applies to every Park Plaza in the UK. The step-free status in each walk is TfL's, not the hotel's.

These are family facts, and family facts go stale. This table is set for re-verification in April 2027.

What the bands mean

No hotel here publishes a fixed nightly rate, so the bands below are relative tiers rather than quotes. London charges no tourist tax today. On 10 September 2026 the government said mayors will be given the power to add an overnight visitor levy, charged as a percentage of the room price rather than a flat fee, with a bill to be introduced in due course. Breakfast is where family costs part company. Royal Garden Hotel charges adults 24 pounds for continental or 28 for a full English and serves breakfast free to children 12 and under. Strand Palace charges 18 pounds a person. Citadines South Kensington has no restaurant and points you to a neighbouring coffee bar at 11 pounds a head. Premier Inn lets up to two under-16s eat breakfast free for each adult who buys one. Extra beds are the other line: 50 pounds for a rollaway at Sea Containers London, 50 pounds a night at Citadines, and 70 pounds a night at The Kensington, whose own pages disagree on whether a child under 12 pays it. Getting around costs less than it looks, because TfL lets a fare-paying adult take up to four children under 11 free on the Tube, DLR, Overground and Elizabeth line.

The 12 hotels, and the room to ask for at each

Walking times are to the nearest Tube or DLR station. With children in London the station is the real front door, and whether it has a lift matters more than the minutes. Where the hotel publishes its own walking time it is quoted as the hotel's figure. Otherwise the route was measured in October 2026 on OpenStreetMap foot routing from the hotel's published address, with minutes worked out at 1.25 metres a second, and it is marked as a road route. Step-free status comes from TfL's own station data and its April 2026 Step-free Tube guide, and it splits this page in two: Southwark, Tower Hill, Westminster and Deptford Bridge are step-free, while Covent Garden, Oxford Circus, South Kensington, Gloucester Road and High Street Kensington have no step-free route from street to platform.

  • Westminster Bridge and the London Eye seen across the Thames, with County Hall on the South Bank

    Westminster Bridge, South Bank

    Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London

    £££
Rated 4.5 out of 5 on Google Maps from 14,438 reviews, as of October 2026
    Best for four

A large hotel at the South Bank end of Westminster Bridge, and the most complete family product in this set. Its Studio Rooms are about 36 square metres with a sofa bed and a microwave kitchenette and are published for two adults and two children, the One Bedroom Suites take five, and there is a 15 metre heated indoor pool. The hotel publishes 16 lifts reaching every floor, and Westminster station, step-free on every line, is 10 minutes at 769 m across the bridge on a road route.

    Room to book
A Studio Room for four, or a One Bedroom Suite of about 55 square metres for five
    Children stay free
Children stay free in their parents' room on the Family Experience offer, given on the same page as under 12 and as 12 and under
    Breakfast for children
Free for under-12s eating with their parents, per the hotel's families page
Walk to the nearest Tube or DLR station
Waterloo, step-free on the Jubilee line only: 8 minutes at 611 m on a road route to the nearest Tube or DLR station
    Right for
A family of four or five who want a pool, a kitchenette and Westminster across the bridge.
    Wrong for
Parents of a baby who need the cot confirmed in writing before they book.
    The catch
The hotel's own site says nothing about cots or extra beds or what they cost, and the brand's booking site refused automated access, so that question goes to the front desk. In the four-person Studio the children sleep on a sofa bed, and pool sessions can only be booked once you have arrived, subject to availability.
  • The London Eye rising above the lawns of Jubilee Gardens on the South Bank

    South Bank, County Hall

    Premier Inn London County Hall

    £
Rated 4.3 out of 5 on Google Maps from 3,633 reviews, as of October 2026
    Best value

A budget hotel inside County Hall beside the London Eye, run by the chain with the clearest family terms in this set. The Family room is for two adults and two children under 16, both children stay free with a full paying adult, and up to two under-16s eat breakfast free for every adult who buys one. Travel cots are free.

    Room to book
The Standard Family room, booked as two adults and two under-16s
    Children stay free
Up to two children under 16 stay free with one full paying adult in a Family room
    Breakfast for children
Up to two under-16s eat breakfast free for each adult paying for breakfast or a Meal Deal
Walk to the nearest Tube or DLR station
Waterloo, step-free on the Jubilee line only: about 8 minutes by the hotel's own figure, 479 m on a road route to the nearest Tube or DLR station
    Right for
Two parents and two children under 16 who want the London Eye at the door and breakfast settled.
    Wrong for
A family of five, or one travelling with a 16 or 17 year old, since the Family room is for two adults and two children under 16.
    The catch
The children sleep on a sofa bed and a pull-out bed rather than proper single beds, and the free travel cot comes with no mattress or blankets, so you bring the bedding. The hotel also warns of limited wheelchair access during building work, with the staircase kept for emergency use and every floor reached by lift.
  • The brick riverside block of Oxo Tower Wharf on the South Bank at low tide

    South Bank, Upper Ground

    Sea Containers London

    £££
Rated 4.5 out of 5 on Google Maps from 5,530 reviews, as of October 2026

A design hotel on the river between Blackfriars and Waterloo bridges, and one of three here that put a family of four in real beds: its Double Double rooms have two double beds at 29 to 32 square metres and are published as sleeping four. The FAQ confirms rooms that connect, and the Little Explorers programme adds an all-day kids' menu, an Explorer Hunt and family cinema screenings from Friday to Sunday.

    Room to book
A Double Double for four, or two rooms with a connecting door for a bigger family
    Breakfast for children
A Little Explorers breakfast buffet with no price published; the Little Londoners package gives half-price kids' menu meals to children 10 and under
Walk to the nearest Tube or DLR station
Southwark, step-free on the Jubilee line: 5 minutes by the hotel's own figure, 588 m on a road route to the nearest Tube or DLR station
    Right for
A family of four who want real beds, the riverside and a step-free Jubilee line station close by.
    Wrong for
Families who want a pool, or a family of five hoping for one room.
    The catch
There is no swimming pool, the 12th Knot rooftop bar is for over-18s at all times, and no single room is published for five, so a bigger family pays for two connecting rooms. A rollaway costs 50 pounds and a discretionary 5 percent service charge is added at check-out.
  • Cafe tables under the iron and glass roof of Covent Garden Market

    Strand, Covent Garden

    Strand Palace

    ££
Rated 4.2 out of 5 on Google Maps from 10,728 reviews, as of October 2026

A big, long-established hotel on the Strand between Covent Garden and the river, and the West End option here. Its Deluxe Studios are 20 and 21 square metres with a pull-out sofa bed, cots are free at one per room, and breakfast is 18 pounds a head. It is on this page because its own website gives different answers to the questions families ask.

    Room to book
A Deluxe Studio King, once the hotel has confirmed in writing how many children it will take
    Children stay free
Under 12 sharing existing bedding according to the FAQ, under 9 according to the terms and room pages
    Breakfast for children
Included for under-9s staying free, per the terms; adults pay 18 pounds
Walk to the nearest Tube or DLR station
Covent Garden, no step-free route to the platforms: 6 minutes at 471 m on a road route to the nearest Tube or DLR station
    Right for
Two adults and one young child who want to walk to Covent Garden and the theatres.
    Wrong for
A family of four who need the booking to hold, because the terms rule out two adults and two children in one room.
    The catch
The hotel's own pages contradict each other on exactly the things a family checks. The rooms list allows two adults and two children under 8 in a Deluxe Studio, while the terms cap it at three adults, or two adults and one child, or one adult and two children. Children stay free under 12 in the FAQ and under 9 in the terms, and no accessibility information or kids' amenities are published.
  • The Round Pond in Kensington Gardens with Kensington Palace behind it

    Kensington High Street

    Royal Garden Hotel

    £££
Rated 4.4 out of 5 on Google Maps from 2,889 reviews, as of October 2026

A large hotel on Kensington High Street opposite Kensington Gardens, with the most generous published breakfast rule in this set: children 12 and under eat free. The 35 square metre Deluxe Studios and the 59 square metre Park Suites are published for four people, connecting rooms are available on request, and the concierge lends scooters for the ride through the park to the Diana Memorial Playground.

    Room to book
A Deluxe Studio, with a connecting room if there are five of you
    Breakfast for children
Free for children 12 and under; adults pay 24 pounds continental or 28 pounds full English
Walk to the nearest Tube or DLR station
High Street Kensington, no step-free route to the platforms: 5 minutes by the hotel's own figure, 461 m on a road route to the nearest Tube or DLR station
    Right for
A family who want Kensington Gardens and its playground as the back garden, and free breakfast for the children.
    Wrong for
Families with a pushchair who plan to use the Tube, and families of five wanting one room.
    The catch
Every family-sized room is published for four people with a single Super King bed, and the site never says how the third and fourth guests sleep or what an extra bed costs, so you have to email Reservations to find out. There is no pool, and the hotel's own pages give two walking times to Kensington Palace, 2 minutes and 5.
  • White stucco terraces where Queen's Gate meets Kensington Road at the park end of the street

    South Kensington, Queen's Gate

    The Kensington

    £££
Rated 4.6 out of 5 on Google Maps from 1,353 reviews, as of October 2026

A townhouse hotel on Queen's Gate that puts the museums on foot, at a published 8 minutes to the Natural History Museum and the V&A, and one of three here with four real beds: its Family Room has two double beds at about 33 square metres for two adults and two children, with a play tent and a milk-and-cookies turndown. The hotel states step-free access from the street to every part of the building.

    Room to book
The Family Room, with its two double beds
    Breakfast for children
No standing price published; the London with Family offer includes breakfast for all and free dinner before 7pm for children up to 8
Walk to the nearest Tube or DLR station
South Kensington, no step-free route to the platforms: 5 minutes at 409 m on a road route to the nearest Tube or DLR station
    Right for
Two parents and two children doing the Natural History Museum and the V&A on foot.
    Wrong for
A family who want the rollaway price settled before booking, or who need five in one room.
    The catch
Only the one Family Room takes two adults and two children; every other room that suits a family stops at two adults and one child. The hotel's own pages publish two different rollaway rules, free for children 12 and under in the FAQ and 70 pounds a night for a child under 12 on the suite pages, and connecting rooms and the family offer have to be arranged by phone.
  • The old station building on Gloucester Road in South Kensington on a sunny morning

    South Kensington, Gloucester Road

    Citadines South Kensington London

    ££
Rated 4.1 out of 5 on Google Maps from 265 reviews, as of October 2026

An apartment hotel on Gloucester Road where all 92 apartments have a kitchen with a stove, a microwave and a fridge. The 28 square metre Studio Deluxe and the 45 square metre one-bedroom apartment both take four people on a double bed and a sofa bed, the cot is free, and an extra bed is a published 50 pounds a night.

    Room to book
The 1-Bedroom Apartment, for the separate bedroom and the dishwasher
    Children stay free
Under-2s in a cot and children aged 3 to 6 in existing beds stay free
    Breakfast for children
No child price; breakfast comes from a neighbouring coffee bar at 11 pounds a person
Walk to the nearest Tube or DLR station
Gloucester Road, no step-free route to the platforms: 5 minutes by the operator's own figure, 457 m on a road route to the nearest Tube or DLR station
    Right for
A family who want to cook and do laundry a short walk from the museums.
    Wrong for
Families of five, and anyone who wants a hotel breakfast or daily service.
    The catch
Two of the four sleep on a sofa bed in both family apartments, and the 45 square metre one-bedroom is split level with a mezzanine. Breakfast is not served on site, the operator publishes no lift and no connecting apartments, and its child policy skips a year: under-2s in a cot and 3 to 6 year olds stay free, with nothing said about two-year-olds.
  • The curved stone front of Broadcasting House at the top of Regent Street in Marylebone

    Marylebone, Portland Place

    The Langham, London

    ££££
Rated 4.7 out of 5 on Google Maps from 4,292 reviews, as of October 2026

A grand hotel at the top of Regent Street with the longest list of children's extras in this set, and the only hotel room here published for two adults and three children: the 39 square metre Family Room has two queen beds and a sofa bed. Children get a Theodore bear and a kids' hamper, a teepee on request and children's menus in every restaurant, and the 16 metre pool runs a Saturday morning splash session.

    Room to book
The Family Room, sold for up to two adults and three children
    Breakfast for children
Breakfast for two adults and two children under 16 only on the Family Celebration offer; no standalone price
Walk to the nearest Tube or DLR station
Oxford Circus, no step-free route to the platforms: 5 minutes by the hotel's own figure, 331 m on a road route to the nearest Tube or DLR station
    Right for
A family of five who want one room, a pool and a hotel that plans for children.
    Wrong for
Parents of a baby who need a cot policy, and children who want an evening swim.
    The catch
No cot policy is published anywhere on the hotel's pages, so parents with a baby cannot confirm a cot before booking. In the five-person Family Room the fifth person sleeps on the sofa bed, and under-16s may use the pool only from 8am to 12pm and 4pm to 6pm, with an adult. The step-free station is Bond Street, which the hotel puts 10 minutes away.
  • The raised steel arms of the Fan Bridge over the canal at Paddington Basin

    Paddington Basin

    Novotel London Paddington

    ££
Rated 4.3 out of 5 on Google Maps from 3,057 reviews, as of October 2026

A modern hotel on the canal basin behind Paddington station, and one of only three here with a pool, a heated indoor one. It publishes 24 family rooms and 22 connecting rooms, a bottle warmer, board games, a children's menu and booster seats, and the station is a published 150 metres away.

    Room to book
The Superior Room with a queen bed and a double sofa bed, the only type for four
    Children stay free
Novotel's brand terms say two children under 16 stay free, but tie the offer to booking a minimum of two rooms
    Breakfast for children
Novotel's brand terms say children 15 and under eat breakfast free with paying adults
Walk to the nearest Tube or DLR station
Paddington, step-free to every platform except westbound Circle and District: 5 minutes and 150 m by the hotel's own figure to the nearest Tube or DLR station
    Right for
A family arriving by train who want a pool, connecting rooms and a step-free station.
    Wrong for
Families of five, and children who want a real bed of their own.
    The catch
Only one room type takes two adults and two children, a 25 square metre room where the children share a double sofa bed; every other room stops at three. Cot and extra-bed prices are not published, no child rules are published for the pool, and the hotel page still carries a notice of a full room renovation starting in November 2025.
  • The outer walls of the Tower of London seen from Tower Hill across the road

    Tower Hill, City of London

    Novotel London Tower Bridge

    ££
Rated 4.6 out of 5 on Google Maps from 4,635 reviews, as of October 2026

A modern hotel on Pepys Street with the shortest walk to a step-free station on this page: the hotel puts Tower Hill at 200 metres and the Tower of London at a one-minute walk. The Superior Room and the 50 square metre Suite are both published for two adults and two children, there are 17 connecting rooms, and a lift serves every floor.

    Room to book
The 50 square metre Suite, where the sofa bed is in a separate living room
    Children stay free
Novotel's brand terms say two children under 16 stay free in a paying parent's room
    Breakfast for children
Three answers on the hotel's own pages: free for under-16s sharing, an additional charge, or free only on Bed and Breakfast packages
Walk to the nearest Tube or DLR station
Tower Hill, step-free on the Circle and District lines: 1 minute and 200 m by the hotel's own figure to the nearest Tube or DLR station
    Right for
A family with a pushchair who want step-free Tube access and the Tower of London on the doorstep.
    Wrong for
Families of five, and anyone who needs to know before arrival whether children's breakfast is free.
    The catch
The four-person Superior Room is the same 25 square metres as the two-person Standard, with the children on a double sofa bed. The hotel's own pages give three different answers on children's breakfast, and there is no pool, only a sauna and hammam.
  • The White Tower standing on the lawn inside the Tower of London

Tower of London, Lower Thames Street

    Cheval Three Quays

    ££££
Rated 4.7 out of 5 on Google Maps from 708 reviews, as of October 2026

Serviced apartments on Lower Thames Street, 75 metres from the Tower of London by the operator's own figure, and the roomiest answer on this page. Every two-bedroom apartment has two real bedrooms and two bathrooms for four guests from 94 square metres, the Deluxe Three Bedroom takes six, and most three-bedroom units are two apartments joined by an interconnecting door. Every kitchen is fully equipped, with a washer and dryer.

    Room to book
A Superior Two Bedroom for four, or the Deluxe Three Bedroom for five or six
    Breakfast for children
No restaurant; breakfast items can be pre-ordered to the apartment, prices not published
Walk to the nearest Tube or DLR station
Tower Hill, step-free on the Circle and District lines: 5 minutes at 353 m on a road route, against the operator's 350 m to the nearest Tube or DLR station
    Right for
A larger family who want separate bedrooms, a kitchen and the Tower across the road.
    Wrong for
Families who want a restaurant, a pool or a published children's policy.
    The catch
For an ordinary short stay there is no written cot or children's policy at all: highchairs and baby products are published only for stays of three months or more, and a cot appears only as a gallery photo caption. Lift and step-free access are not published, a pre-authorisation of 60 pounds a night up to 360 pounds is taken, and a discretionary 4 percent service charge is added.
  • The entrance arch and bunting of Greenwich Market in south-east London

    Greenwich

Staycity Aparthotels, London, Greenwich High Road

    £
Rated 4.7 out of 5 on Google Maps from 2,713 reviews, as of October 2026

An aparthotel in Greenwich with a fully equipped kitchen in every apartment, and the most plainly worded family policy here: there is no extra charge for children, cots and high chairs are free, and the one-bedroom open-plan apartment sleeps four. Greenwich station and Deptford Bridge DLR are a published five-minute walk.

    Room to book
The 1 Bedroom Apartment (Open Plan), the one type that sleeps four
    Children stay free
No extra charge for children, who count within the apartment's sleeping capacity
    Breakfast for children
Not published; the apartments are self-catering
Walk to the nearest Tube or DLR station
Deptford Bridge DLR, step-free: 5 minutes by the operator's own figure, 446 m on a road route to the nearest Tube or DLR station
    Right for
A family on a budget who want a kitchen and Greenwich's park and museums over a central address.
    Wrong for
Families of five, and anyone who wants to walk to the central sights.
    The catch
Nothing sleeps more than four, extra beds for older children are not offered, and the operator publishes no bed layout or room size. Stays of one to six nights get no scheduled clean, sofa beds are not made up on arrival, and Staycity itself puts the property 20 to 40 minutes from central London by public transport.

Where not to book in London

The mistake in London is choosing a hotel for the museums or the shops and only then finding out how the station works. South Kensington is the obvious base for the Natural History Museum, and TfL's own data shows no step-free route from street to platform at South Kensington, Gloucester Road or High Street Kensington, the stations nearest The Kensington, Citadines South Kensington London and Royal Garden Hotel. Covent Garden and Oxford Circus, nearest Strand Palace and The Langham, London, are the same. With a pushchair, that means carrying it on the stairs or walking further to a step-free station such as Bond Street, which The Langham puts 10 minutes away. The second thing to check is what the children sleep on. Six of these twelve hotels sell a four-person room where two people share a sofa bed, and a free cot is not always a full cot: Premier Inn's comes with no mattress or blankets and Staycity's with a fitted sheet only. The third is Strand Palace, whose rooms list and terms disagree on whether two adults and two children may share a Deluxe Studio at all.

Settle the room shape before you settle the dates, because several of the best family options here cannot be booked in one click. The Kensington's connecting rooms and its London with Family offer are arranged by phone, Royal Garden Hotel handles connecting rooms, extra beds and cots through its Reservations email, and Strand Palace needs written confirmation before a family of four can rely on a Deluxe Studio. Novotel's free-stay terms apply when you book two rooms on the same reservation, so price a pair of connecting rooms against a single room before you commit. If you need five or six people in one booking, that is the constraint that decides your dates, since only The Langham, London and Cheval Three Quays publish it in one room or apartment. And check the cot answer in writing at Park Plaza, The Langham, London and Cheval Three Quays, none of which publishes a cot policy on its own site.

Family hotels in London: FAQ

The questions parents ask most when booking a room here.

The South Bank and the Tower are the easiest bases with young children, because their nearest stations are step-free. Southwark is a published five minutes from Sea Containers London and Tower Hill one minute from Novotel London Tower Bridge. South Kensington puts the museums on foot, but TfL's own data shows no step-free route at South Kensington, Gloucester Road or High Street Kensington.

Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London has the most complete published family offer of the twelve checked: Studios for two adults and two children with a kitchenette, suites for five, free breakfast for under-12s and a 15 metre pool open to children from 8am to 8pm. The Langham, London has the most children's extras and the only hotel room published for two adults and three children.

Only two of the twelve hotels checked publish a one-booking fit for two adults and three children. The Langham, London sells a 39 square metre Family Room for two adults and three children, with the fifth person on a sofa bed. Cheval Three Quays has a Deluxe Three Bedroom apartment for six. Park Plaza's One Bedroom Suite takes five, but only as four adults and a child or three adults and two children.

At some, and the terms differ. Premier Inn lets up to two under-16s stay free with one full paying adult in a Family room, and up to two eat breakfast free for each adult who buys one. Park Plaza Westminster Bridge gives under-12s free breakfast, and Royal Garden Hotel serves breakfast free to children 12 and under. Novotel's brand terms promise two under-16s free but tie the offer to booking two rooms.

Six of the twelve publish a free cot: Premier Inn, Royal Garden Hotel, The Kensington, Citadines South Kensington, Staycity Greenwich and Strand Palace. Read the detail, because Premier Inn's travel cot has no mattress or blankets and Staycity supplies only a fitted sheet. Park Plaza, Sea Containers London, both Novotels and Cheval Three Quays publish no price, and The Langham, London publishes no cot policy at all.

At some stations, and it should decide your hotel. TfL's own data shows a step-free route from street to platform at Southwark, Tower Hill, Westminster and Bond Street, at Paddington on every line except westbound Circle and District, and at Waterloo on the Jubilee line only. Covent Garden, Oxford Circus, South Kensington, Gloucester Road and High Street Kensington have none. Up to four under-11s travel free with each paying adult.

Not yet. No overnight visitor levy is charged in London today. On 10 September 2026 the government said mayors will be given the power to introduce one, charged as a percentage of the cost of the room rather than as a flat fee, and that a bill will be introduced in due course. No start date has been announced, so the room price you are quoted is the price.
