In Brief
Which hotel should I book in Zante?
The Bay Hotel & Suites, in the €€€ band, is the best all-round choice: its own sandy beach in Vasilikos with sunbeds included, rooms for families and couples, and a season that runs to 26 October. Hotel Vasilikos Beach is the best value, a family-run hotel three minutes on foot from Agios Nikolaos beach.
Key takeaways
- Adults only: King Jason Zante takes guests from 17, Keri Village from 16, and Lesante Blu publishes no age
- South-coast turtle beaches are open 07:00 to sunset only, by Marine Park rules
- Navagio: no landing or swimming until 31 October 2026; boats keep 50 m off
- Seven of the twelve publish a closing date, all between 10 and 31 October

What the bands mean
These are bands, not prices. Only one hotel here, Porto Zante, publishes a rate card, and it prices villas rather than rooms; the other eleven sell through live booking engines, and most close for the winter, so a rate read in October says little about July. Each band describes what the hotel is, from its own website on 3 October 2026: its star rating where it states one, its board and its size. One extra to budget for at the five-star end: the Louis Hotels terms for King Jason Zante say the Greek overnight tax is not in the room price and is collected on arrival, 15 euros a night for a five-star hotel.
- €
- small family-run hotels selling rooms with breakfast, without a spa, priced in euros
- €€
- mid-sized hotels, town hotels and all-inclusive hotels that do not claim five stars
- €€€
- beach resorts with a spa or their own sunbeds, and small suite-only lodges
- €€€€
- five-star resorts by their own description, with private-pool suites or villas
The 12 hotels, and who each one is wrong for
Walking times are to the nearest beach. Beach distances are the hotel's own figure wherever it publishes one. Where it does not, or where its figure looked wrong, they are routed on foot through OpenStreetMap from the hotel's own map pin at 4.5 km/h, and labelled as a road route. The one town hotel is measured to Dionysios Solomos Square. Airport times are road routes from the Zakynthos terminal in free-flowing traffic, so allow more in August.

Vasilikos peninsula
The Bay Hotel & Suites
€€€Rated 4.6 out of 5 on Google Maps from 701 reviews, as of October 2026Best all-roundA 120-room hotel on its own stretch of sandy beach in Vasilikos, with free sunbeds and umbrellas on the sand, a sea-facing overflow pool and suites of about 60 square metres.
- Walk to the nearest beach
- On its own beach, by the hotel to the nearest beach
- Right for
- Families and couples who want a quiet beach hotel with the sunbeds included and a season that runs from 1 May to 26 October.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone without a car who wants restaurants and bars on foot. Vasilikos is a peninsula of beaches, not a resort town.
- The catch
- The catch: It is 15.8 km and about 20 minutes by road from the airport, and the hotel's own site does not say what board its rates include, so check before you pay.

Agios Nikolaos beach, Vasilikos
Hotel Vasilikos Beach
€Rated 4.4 out of 5 on Google Maps from 337 reviews, as of October 2026Best valueA family-run hotel of three low blocks around a pool and bar, 150 m from Agios Nikolaos beach, with breakfast served from 8 to 10.
- Walk to the nearest beach
- 3 minutes, 220 m by road route (the hotel says 150 m) to the nearest beach
- Right for
- Budget travellers who want a sandy beach with water sports a three-minute walk away, and a family who run the place themselves.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone travelling after 10 October. Its booking engine gives a season of 4 May to 10 October, the earliest close on this page.
- The catch
- The catch: The pool is open only from 08:00 to 20:00, and Zakynthos Town is 15 km away by the hotel's own figure, so evenings out mean a taxi or a car.

Kalamaki, Laganas Bay
Crystal Beach Hotel
€€Rated 4.5 out of 5 on Google Maps from 1,159 reviews, as of October 2026A beachfront hotel on Kalamaki beach, which it describes as a loggerhead turtle nesting beach, with a large pool, a children's pool and rooms sold as bed and breakfast or half board.
- Walk to the nearest beach
- On Kalamaki beach to the nearest beach
- Right for
- Couples and families who want sand outside the door, a low-key village and an airport 3 km away by the hotel's figure.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Families with children over two in a standard room. The hotel charges them as adults in every room type except the 2 Bedroom Suite.
- The catch
- The catch: The hotel invites guests to watch turtles come ashore to nest in the evenings, but the Marine Park opens nesting beaches only from 07:00 to sunset. After dark the beach in front is closed to you. Season: 15 May to 15 October.

Laganas
Mediterranean Beach Resort
€€€Rated 4.2 out of 5 on Google Maps from 631 reviews, as of October 2026A 115-room resort of two-storey buildings beside the 5 km beach of Laganas, with a spa and indoor pool, family suites and a children's pool.
- Walk to the nearest beach
- Next to Laganas beach, by the hotel to the nearest beach
- Right for
- Families who want a resort with a spa beside the 5 km Laganas beach and a short transfer: the hotel puts the airport five minutes away.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Light sleepers, and anyone who chose Zante to avoid a party resort. Its own booking engine sells it as moments from the Laganas nightlife.
- The catch
- The catch: Sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach cost extra, beach towels need a deposit, and the season is short: 5 May to 14 October on its booking engine.

Tragaki, north-east coast
Lesante Blu
€€€€Rated 4.8 out of 5 on Google Maps from 655 reviews, as of October 2026A five-star, adults-only, all-suite resort in Tragaki, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, with its own sandy beach, an infinity pool, an indoor pool and suites with private pools.
- Walk to the nearest beach
- Its own beach, by the hotel; Tsilivi is 4.2 km by road route to the nearest beach
- Right for
- Couples who want a suite with its own pool, a beach below the resort and the hotel's own yacht from its pier, 15 minutes from the airport by its figure.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Families. The hotel describes an adults-only policy and lists every suite for two adults.
- The catch
- The catch: It publishes no minimum age and no season dates; the only age on its site is 16 for the spa. Its location page also puts Tsilivi beach about 1,200 m away, but the road route from the hotel's own map pin is 4.2 km.

Tragaki, north-east coast
Porto Zante Villas & Spa
€€€€Rated 4.7 out of 5 on Google Maps from 135 reviews, as of October 2026A villa-only five-star on a sandy beach in Tragaki, a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, with a heated private pool in every villa and a spa above the water.
- Walk to the nearest beach
- On its own beach, by the resort to the nearest beach
- Right for
- Families who want a villa on the beach, a kids' club and a private boat: the resort puts Navagio and Marathonisi about 20 minutes away by speedboat from its own beach.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone on a hotel-room budget. It sells villas only, priced per villa per night.
- The catch
- The catch: Its own pages disagree on when the season starts, 1 May on the offers page and 10 May on the rates page, and its offers carry a four-night minimum stay. Its boats cannot land you at Navagio this year: the 2026 decision keeps every vessel 50 m off the shore.

Planos, Tsilivi Bay
King Jason Zante
€€€€Rated 4.8 out of 5 on Google Maps from 139 reviews, as of October 2026An all-inclusive five-star of 87 suites above Tsilivi Bay, for guests aged 17 and over, which calls itself the first five-star adults-only all-inclusive hotel on Zakynthos.
- Walk to the nearest beach
- 18 minutes, 1.3 km by road route (the hotel says under 1 km) to the nearest beach
- Right for
- Couples who want all-inclusive with no children around, swim-up suites and two à la carte restaurants, 10 km from the airport by its fact sheet.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone travelling with a 16-year-old. The booking engine takes guests from 17 only.
- The catch
- The catch: It is not on the beach, although its group's site calls it beachfront: its own fact sheet says less than 1 km to the sand, and its booking engine says it sits above the coastal road. It closes on 17 October.

Tsilivi
Aqua Bay Hotel
€€Rated 4.5 out of 5 on Google Maps from 809 reviews, as of October 2026An all-inclusive family hotel on the edge of Tsilivi with 82 family suites, eight outdoor pools, a mini club and free unlimited entry to the Tsilivi Waterpark it is attached to.
- Walk to the nearest beach
- 250 m to Tsilivi beach, by the hotel to the nearest beach
- Right for
- Families with young children who want a waterpark, a kids' pool and Tsilivi's shallow Blue Flag beach 250 m away by the hotel's figure.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Couples after quiet. The hotel is attached to the waterpark, whose cocktail bar runs until midnight.
- The catch
- The catch: It publishes no star rating, no season dates and no booking terms, and the full evening entertainment programme is at its sister hotel, Planos Bay, not on site.

Keri, south-west
Keri Village & Spa by Zante Plaza
€€Rated 4.1 out of 5 on Google Maps from 462 reviews, as of October 2026An adults-only, all-inclusive hotel for guests 16 and over on a hill above Keri, with a spa, free parking and suites of up to 50 square metres.
- Walk to the nearest beach
- 44 minutes, 3.3 km to Keri beach by road route; free shuttle 10:00 to 18:00 to the nearest beach
- Right for
- Couples who want all-inclusive and quiet countryside in the south-west, with the Keri sunset viewpoint 1.6 km away by the brand's figure.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone who wants to walk from the room to the sea. The free beach shuttle is how you get there.
- The catch
- The catch: Its two brand websites put the beach 1.9 km and 2.1 km away, the foot route is 3.3 km, and the free shuttle stops at 18:00. Pool towels cost extra.

Zakynthos Town waterfront
Strada Marina Hotel
€€Rated 4.1 out of 5 on Google Maps from 1,348 reviews, as of October 2026A 112-room town hotel facing the marina, 500 m from the port, with a rooftop pool and a roof garden bar and restaurant.
- Walk to the nearest beach
- 5 minutes, 348 m to Solomos Square by road route to the nearest beach
- Right for
- Anyone without a car, or catching a ferry: the port is 500 m away and the airport a ten-minute drive by the hotel's figure.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: A beach holiday. It is a town hotel with no beach of its own.
- The catch
- The catch: The rooftop pool, pool bar and roof garden open only from June to September, so a May or October stay comes without a pool.

Agios Nikolaos, north
Nobelos Seaside Lodge
€€€Rated 4.4 out of 5 on Google Maps from 1,048 reviews, as of October 2026A stone-built lodge of four suites run by the Nobelos family, with its own beach and an organic restaurant, 500 m from the port of Agios Nikolaos near the Blue Caves.

- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone who wants a pool. The lodge names its private beach and lists no pool on its pages.
- The catch
- The catch: The restaurant also takes outside guests and closes every Tuesday except in August, and this is the furthest hotel here from the airport: 29.5 km, about 36 minutes by road.

Alykes
Asteria Hotel
€Rated 3.3 out of 5 on Google Maps from 18 reviews, as of October 2026A family-run hotel of 15 rooms directly on Alykes beach, the first hotel on that beach when it opened in 1963, with its own taverna serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

- Right for
- Families and couples on a budget who want calm, shallow water at the door and a short stroll to Alykanas.
- Wrong for
- Wrong for: Anyone who wants a pool or resort facilities.
- The catch
- The catch: Only some rooms have been renovated and the rest are the original classic rooms, and the hotel publishes no season dates and no pool.
Where not to book in Zante
Two things to avoid on Zante, and neither is a whole district. The first is the wrong beach for the hour: the Marine Park opens its nesting beaches, which it names as Marathonisi, Kalamaki, Sekania, Dafni and Gerakas, only from 07:00 to sunset, asks you to keep within about 5 m of the water, bans umbrellas on Gerakas, Dafni and Marathonisi except park-approved furniture, and forbids any access to Sekania. Jet skis and other motorised water sports are banned in the park all year. The second is Laganas if you want quiet: hotel operators across the island describe it as the place for bars, nightclubs and party nights, and Mediterranean Beach sells itself as moments from that nightlife. And do not plan a swim at Navagio. Government Gazette B 3033/28.05.2026 bans landing and swimming there and keeps boats 50 m off until 31 October 2026, with land access only to the viewing platform.
When to book
On Zante the calendar matters more than the price. Every hotel here that publishes a 2026 season closes in October: Hotel Vasilikos Beach on 10 October, Mediterranean Beach on the 14th, Crystal Beach and Nobelos on the 15th, King Jason on the 17th, The Bay on the 26th and Porto Zante on the 31st. Openings run from 1 May at The Bay and King Jason to 15 May at Crystal Beach. For a late-season trip, book a hotel that is still open, not just a cheap one. And if Navagio is the reason for your dates, check whether the landing ban is renewed for 2027, because the current decision expires on 31 October 2026.
