How do I get from CDG to Paris city centre?

The RER B train is the fastest and cheapest way for most people: about 35 minutes to Gare du Nord or Chatelet-Les Halles for roughly 13 to 14 EUR, running from stations inside the airport. If you have a lot of luggage or are travelling as a group, take an official taxi at the fixed fare of 56 EUR to the Right Bank or 65 EUR to the Left Bank.

How much is a taxi from CDG to Paris?

It is a flat fare set by prefectural order, not a meter: 56 EUR to anywhere on the Right Bank and 65 EUR to anywhere on the Left Bank, for up to four passengers. The price does not change with traffic, time of day or luggage. The trip takes between 45 minutes and an hour and a quarter.

Is the Roissybus still running?

No. The Roissybus between CDG and Opera was permanently discontinued on 1 March 2026. Many guides and older articles still recommend it. Use the RER B for speed, or the 350 and 351 city buses if you want the cheapest daytime option.

How do I get from CDG to Paris at night?

The Noctilien night buses N140 and N143 run all night from the airport to Gare de l'Est, every 30 to 60 minutes, taking 80 and 55 minutes respectively. They cost about the price of a standard bus ticket. Otherwise the official taxi flat fare applies around the clock at the same 56 or 65 EUR.

Is the RER B safe with luggage?

It is fine, with two caveats. Rush-hour trains get very full and there are no dedicated luggage racks, so a large suitcase is awkward between about 07:30 and 09:30. Pickpocketing does happen on this line, as on any airport train, so keep bags closed and in front of you. With two big cases and a tired child, the fixed-fare taxi earns its money.

Which terminal has the RER station?

Terminal 2 has its own station, Aeroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV. Terminals 1 and 3 use the Aeroport Charles de Gaulle 1 station, reached by the free CDGVAL automatic shuttle train. Allow an extra 10 to 15 minutes if you are not landing at Terminal 2.

Charles de Gaulle sits 25 km northeast of Paris, and the gap between the best and worst way to cross that gap is about an hour and 50 euros. One thing first, because most guides still get it wrong: the Roissybus was permanently discontinued on 1 March 2026. If a page is still recommending it, that page has not been updated this year.

Take the RER B train. Tips to skip the airport hassle

The Roissybus is gone
The direct airport bus to Opera was permanently withdrawn on 1 March 2026. A lot of travel guides, and some hotel welcome packs, still list it. If you had planned on it, the RER B or the 350 bus are the replacements.
Know your bank before you get in a taxi
The flat fare is 56 EUR if your destination is north of the Seine and 65 EUR if it is south. It is set by prefectural order, covers up to four passengers and does not change with traffic or time of day. A driver quoting a meter fare or a higher number for a central address is not following the rule.
Only use the official taxi rank
Ignore anyone who approaches you inside the terminal offering a ride. Official taxis queue at a marked rank outside each terminal, and the flat fare only applies to them.
RER B tickets changed price in 2026
The Ile-de-France fare system was reformed, and the airport single now sits at roughly 13 to 14 EUR. Older guides still quote 11 to 12 EUR, so budget the higher figure. Buy at a machine or in the operator's app rather than from anyone offering tickets on the concourse.
Check which terminal you land at
CDG has three terminal areas and they are far apart. Terminal 2 has its own RER station; from Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 you take the free CDGVAL shuttle train first. Add 10 to 15 minutes if you are not landing at T2.
Arriving after midnight
The RER B does not run all night. The Noctilien N140 and N143 buses do, every 30 to 60 minutes to Gare de l'Est, and they cost about the same as a normal bus ticket. The alternative is the fixed-fare taxi, which is the same 56 or 65 EUR at 03:00 as at midday.
